Would be bummed to see him go to the Giants. Orioles I am okay with. Double bummed because the Royals probably won't get him, but KC is loaded with talent still even without Gordo. Really hope he stays but it's looking unlikely. Wishing the best to him.

What a perfect time to be a free agent. He is going to cash in. Good for him.

I trust the Royals front office.

I never thought we would retain Gordon but I hoped Zobrist could stay. That being said, I would have had a hard time giving him four years with his age. He played at a very high level this year but how long can he keep that up?

Royals baseball is so much about chemistry and role-players. It's not just buying the big number producers.
That said, I think we need another big bat in the lineup. A thumper would keep this team in repeat contention.

For sure. But Zobrist would have returned a solid bat and could have played left with Gordo leaving.

But they must have a plan since they didn't make a stronger push for Zobrist.

Zobrist was relatively cheap. They should have tried harder to keep him, imo.

If Zobrist was looking for and getting 4 year offers, that probably eliminated the Royals right away. A 37-38 year old every day player simply doesn't fit the Royal's model. Father Time never loses.

I still doubt that Gordon remains in KC either. I'm sure someone is going to pay significantly more than the Royals will be wiling to. It sucks, but no one should be able to blame the other for looking out for their own best long-term interests.

I had thought that too for a while, but considering that you play 81 games a Kaufmann I don't really see a big thumper as a need. That is unless he can play a corner outfield spot. But with Cain, Hos, Moose and Morales I think you have a decent amount of power plus some guys that can run. A good contact hitter or doubles guy will be better suited for their line up.

Bubba may see a September call-up in 2016 if he continues to make progress with the bat. Maybe...maybe they'll look for him to become an everyday player by 2017.

I will be very surprised if Gordon doesn't end up signing with KC for less money than he could get elsewhere. Family connection says they like KC. Mauer did the same thing with the Twins a few years ago and its come back to bite the Twins with his sliding production.
