Saw on twitter he's interviewing for Ansleys old job. Anyone know anything about him?
JR has a free article on this site's home page. Looks like a good prospect for the job.
Seems Brown would be about as good of a replacement for Ansley that we could hope for.
Of course, Bama could pull in 2 better dbs than #65 in this class.I'm about as optimistic as they come, but I will believe that UK has a legit shot to land arguably the top player in the state of Alabama (with Bama & Auburn offers), when UK announces that they have received the signed LOI. If this was an OH or FL or GA or TN or SC kid, I'd be more optimistic. I'm sure that he really likes Coach Brown, which speaks highly of Browns potential as a recruiter.. But, beating out both Bama & Auburn, for the #65 player, who also resides in their own backyard, is probably not happening. Glad that he is pulling for Brown to get the job, but I just wouldn't get too excited about UK's chances of landing this kid.

Reportedly already turned it down. Might want to stay in the NFLHow about Ed Reed?
Now we're talking! Mike Cassady (sp?), Rick Smith! Come'on - we need some re-treads!Wes McGriff...bring him on
If he recruits inside Florida well, that would make him a good fit for us in that 1 important respect. He has coached at some impressive programs too. But IIUC, Stoops is looking at several other candidates. Ansley was an important piece of our coaching staff, and mid February probably isn't the best time of year to find great position coaches available. So I won't be surprised if Stoops takes his time to fill this position. We need a really good teacher for this hire, and it ought to be an attractive opportunity since we have so many talented young players in our secondary.Recruits Florida I just read. Sounds like a good fit for Stoops.
Just hired at Auburn in January, not leaving this soonWes McGriff...bring him on
Totally agree. The time of year isn't the best for a monumentall hire, but Stoops can overcome this with his reputation if he is willing to take a rising young name from the NFL.Brown seems serviceable, but Stoops is known as one of the best defensive back coaches in the business and has coached some of the best to ever play the game, I (personally) would like to see him make a splash with this hire even if it meant hiring someone that doesn't have CFB experience.
Would like to see a good Special Teams Coach..Totally agree. The time of year isn't the best for a monumentall hire, but Stoops can overcome this with his reputation if he is willing to take a rising young name from the NFL.

What ever happened to the QC position that the Mangino guy was being considered for, that discussion seems to have dropped off of the map
They aren't robots. Everyone is different. From time to time, professional coaches take college jobs. This time of year, if you are going to hire a new assistant coach, you better think outside the box and work all the possibilities. Why would a riser in the NFL come down to the college level? Wouldn't he stick with the NFL since he is rising there?
