It actually is. Makes me wonder if the real Henry was abducted by aliens and this piece was written by a doppelganger.
You can say what you want about his opinions, but there's no doubt the fella can write.
This is great. I hadn't heard the story about McIntosh. Very cool. Actually made my eyes water (not that hard to do). Go 'Cats!
I think a lot of people don't like some of the arrogant sounding stuff that he wrote on InsideNU.he sometimes sounded like too much of a smart *** undergrad. Now he is writing for a living. Maybe it makes a difference.

Sometimes young writers take the shortcut of being a provocateur to be a provocateur. Some, of course, never outgrow it. Maybe young Henry has or will.
Great article. Very well written. FYI ... Barnett and his staff had their own Butler moment when they first realized they had cracked the rock. It was before they even played their first game in 1995. According to Greg Myer they knew when they were in Kenosha and witnessed 2 things. How good Bates and Autry were. And how physical and relentless the defense was. So the story of going to South Bend expecting to win has more than a little truth to it. Coaches can see when their team is ready to win. Barnett and staff saw it in Kenosha and Collins saw it at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.

He's young, eh? I read the name "Henry Bushnell" and it sounds like a sportswriter from the 1950s. Perhaps he would have even done some columns about rags to riches ethnic boxers from sweaty neighborhood gyms.

I don't but that people were "terrified" at the stadium. there was no doubt that we were going to make it.
The buzz that went through the crowd was about the seeding. Wisconsin was the first conference team named, so we weren't sure what implications there would be for us in terms of seeding. After Minnesota, MSU, Michigan, etc. things calmed down.
When Wisconsin was revealed, I had serious doubts. I was at WR. This is NU. I started trying to figure out how the committee was going to justify Michigan making it in after finishing behind NU while leaving NU out. I did not calm down until NU's name was revealed.
Yep, same. I knew, logically, that they were a lock to make it, but it was impossible not to fear the worst.
y'all need to toughen up your mindset for the tourney then, b/c as the super fans once sang in grant park, "it was never in doubt my friends"!
seriously though, i was eager to see it become official too, but i never thought for a second that it wasn't going to happen. and i didn't get a sense of panic and desperation at W-R. now if we had lost in the first round of the BTT, on the other hand . . . that would've been a much more stressful afternoon!
