Great Tulsa World Interview with BV

Very good read. He sat next to Riley at the Broyles Award ceremony. Very complimentary of Riley and his former Boss, Mayfield, Perine, and Mixon.

Ignore the reference to the key difference in the offense being John Frickin Wayne. The TW writer MUST be a hack. :)

The only "negative" quote from Brent, and the one that makes me (and a few others here we can assume) glad he left, is his quote below:

“This game has always been about the players. This year will be no different. It will be all about the players and how the guys on the field play.”

He's obviously clueless, was taken out of context, or paid to say that by Plaino and I. Link below...discuss amongst yourselves. :)

Well, looks like I'll have to get some of the boys together and have a heart to heart with squire Bailey...

Great interview. I don't have to tell anyone that he's being very humble when he credits the players though. Just being a good guy and a great coach, diverting attention to the players.

BV is an awesome guy and coach. I, personally, hope he doesn't go to KSt. I fear it's a no-win situation, and he's too good for that.

Actually, while I will say Of COURSE he is...it's not unanimous because....Similar to what Coach Stoops does when he and the coaches take the blame for a loss or how the team played. It's what coaches DO. A few here are challenged grasping this concept and use it to try and support their misguided "opinions" that they try to represent as fact.

Glad you're an OU fan. :)

Yes, there's that and conversely, all season long save for Texas, Stoops has lauded the team for their work ethic in practice and carrying out their in game assignments as they've been instructed.
He knows what side of the bread the butter is on regarding giving the credit and of course taking the blame.
He's crafty that way, and worth every nickle he's paid.

That's more than 100 million nickels! But you're right.

I learned in Leadership 101 MANY years ago, the MOST important characteristic of a good leader is you take NONE of the credit and ALL of the blame. We need more leaders. :)

Exactly. Of course coaches lay praise to their players. But no doubt BV and other coaches realize the importance of their jobs in preparing the players and putting them in the position to win games. If they fail the players in that, then it won't matter what the players do on the field.

Clueless?
The guy had the # 1 defense in the nation last year. And after losing 8 of 11 players, all to the NFL since then, he still has the # 7 defense THIS year.

One thing Brent AIN'T, is clueless......

Hey Free, it was an inside joke. Tulsa was being facetious. BV has a lot of respect around here.

Indeed. His quote made a few posters here squirm and put me on ignore. What's the line....:"The truth? You want the truth??? You can't HANDLE the truth!!"

Much love for BV here.
