Greer can be a good secondary PG

Brings great hustle, tough and under-rated defense, attitude. Has a nice shooting stroke and consistent playing time may let him gain his rhythm.

Pleasantly surprised by Greer tonight. If he can get some confidence in his shooting, he can be a decent backup. He has shown improvement.

That’s easily the weakest part of his game. His offense is looking better and looks like it Can grow to be respectable but the defense worries me against big ten guards.

did you watch the game last night? He was all over their guards and even the announcers were praising his defense.

Hustle won't prevent more physical guards from abusing him.

He'll have a great chance to play and develop this year. If he doesn't, chances are he will not play much in his last two years. Unless Berry is much worse than advertised, significant injuries, etc.

Good chance he might be strongly considering transferring.

I am really pulling for Greer. Last year, he filled an important hole in our lineup, foregoing his senior year in HS. As Torque mentions above, he hustles and works hard. With Boo out for a while, he is once again positioned to help the team. Go Ryan.

Greer doesn’t have the agility or foot speed of top tier guards so his defense has to start with not biting on their fakes as he can’t recover and they blow by him or break his ankles.

When he doesn’t bite, he does well. And he’s gotten better with experience.

Anybody can find one clip to prove a point. You need the entire body of work to pass judgement.

Greer, while certainly a work in progress, showed some defensive ability last night. He’s competent, but doesn’t quite have the athleticism to stand out.

Honestly Greer hounded the opposing guards yesterday better than any perimeter defender I've seen at NU. I don't know what his physical limitations are, but his heart was awesome.

What going on with all of the transferring talk? In the other thread you wondered if Nance’s body language indicated he was considering transferring. Now you say there is a good chance Greer might be strongly considering transferring. Based on? What’s up with that?

Nothing concrete. Just fear we might see transfers as a result of a disastrous season and loss of confidence in the coaching staff.

maybe some posters will transfer

xyzIGNORE entered the transfer portal, then decided to return to the main MBB board when he couldn't get anyone to listen to his crap on the Rant Board. :p

@Turk also famously transferred to the Scout board several years ago, foolishly believing that people would follow him there. Only @Gladeskat joined him there temporarily, welcoming him with the GladesbombTM salute. He crawled back, to warn everyone about the Fake by the Lake. :p

Wonder who will enter the transfer portal next? :p

I think seniors who would not be central to a rebuilding year is different than underclassmen are central to rebuilding. The former is sometimes inevitable the latter is more of a concern.

Maybe a little bit of hyperbole in this response, but yeah, Greer definitely showed something last night. He played hard on the defensive end.

If Greer can consistently knock down the corner three, NU might have something.

He's 4 for 14 from 3 this year.....depends how you define "consistently"......
Too small a sample size. Consistent would probably require him taking 50 3 pt shots and hitting at 35%. If he made just more of his 3 pt shots this season he’d be above 35%.
