Is he leaving for Washington State? Being reported that he is a candidate for the job

My gut tells me no but with the connection I could see it as a possibility. Leach was paid about $2 million more than Grinch last year, but I don't see Wazzu paying that much for a first time head coach. I also think Grinch feels he has unfinished business here and recognizes staying at OU longer will afford more (better) opportunities.

My guess, if an offer is made, is he's gone. Nobody making less than 2 million a year is turning down a P5 job that includes a $2 million pay increase. If they offer him with a low-ball offer...maybe he turns it down.

Question is, would they really offer him? Guessing not, due to lack of experience. But, who knows. I've seen stranger hires.

My gut is no. He’ll be up for a better HC job in 2-3 years once he turns our defense around.

Whoever it is I bet its done here in the next day or two. They will want a head coach in place before recruits sign. If Grinch goes how many of OU recruits will want to leave.

I think he would go if offered. No guarantee he will get OU's defense where it needs to be. If he took the WSU Job and did great things there he would likely be offered better HC jobs and would already have HC experience under his belt.
Staying at OU trying to fix a defense that might take years with the possibility it does not get done or be a HC at a P5 School now? I know what I would do if offered.

I personally think it's too early for grinch. He might turn into another Mike stoops Arizona fiasco. If I was him I would wait, prove myself, and look for a better job than Washington state where you will never sniff a national championship.

Grinch loses two first round projected players, Murray and Gallimore (really, OU's only defensive players worth talking about), and has even less to work with this season, so it's unfair and unreasonable and premature to say he won't eventually turn things around.
What Grinch needs now is time and some luck.
If he were to leave now, it would indicate to me that he sees a task too daunting ahead of him at OU.

I thought the same thing, a daunting task. If he thinks he bit off more than he can chew he would probably bolt at the first opportunity at being a HC.
After the way the lsu game went and how the D got lit up I would not blame him.
He has a tall task at hand rebuilding our D.

If offered he should go for all the reasons you listed. And I would be surprised if he turned it down but he may know something about the job that others don’t that may be a negetive. We’ll know soon.

After the defense let down against LSU...it certainly did not make him more attractive as a head coach. His ties at Wazzu are there...but as head coach he would be expected to keep the offense in high gear. Not sure he is cut out for that.

Bob Stoops never had experience coaching an offense until he came to OU. Grinch did a great job with the defense at Washington State and vastly improved the defensive rankings at OU in his first year. He may not be the first choice but then again he may. Who knows? His best attribute is his history at WSU. You better believe Riley is looking at his list of possibilities for a new DC just in case.

Or it also might indicate that he is seeing dollar signs

I hope he stays the recruits seem to like him. If he does go, i cant blame him, but I would try to get Jerry Montgomery back as the DC.
