It's been mentioned that Cal's "tweak" was nothing more then more aggressive guard play and finishing stronger at the rim. Last night against Mizzou was the first time since the beginning of the season that ALL guards asserted themselves. Early in the game Andrew penetrates from the top of the key pulls up a free throw jumper, which is what we all have been waiting to see. Guard penetration and getting the ball in the middle is the only way to break down that zone. Also, we saw the same things from Hawkins driving from the wing and pulling up for the easy 2 footer in the paint, as well as ulis getting to the rim. BUT what really got me excited was Bookers drive from the wing. He didn't settle for the outside shot when the zone defenders were late recovering due to great ball movement. He took it right at them and drew the foul under the basket. Very rarely have we seen him drive the ball to the rim in a offensive set.
