17.5 in my opinion. Columbia is always a tough place for UGA to play and it is UGA's first conference game. I think the noon kickoff helps UGA though. They can look at the game as a business trip. Get in, do your job and go home, no waiting around for things to get started and the crowd should be a little more sedate than if it were an afternoon or night game. Weather doesn't look like it's going to be an issue for either team, around 85 as a high.

I watched some of both of their games and they don't appear to have many weaknesses. The defense isn't quite as suffocating as last year but no one is scoring on them. Their offense is much more than competent this season and their qb looks like a different player compared to last season.

I don’t think the final score will be all that bad. We may get Samford treatment. Build a solid enough lead and then shut it down for the day. UGA was sending a message with the Oregon win, but with Samford, it was irrelevant. They could have scored 7 more TDs and it wouldn’t have made the final score more meaningful. I think it’ll be the same with us.

I don't know. After Spurrier UGA has no love at all for Carolina. I think Kirby will pour it on if he has the chance. We are their first game after being ranked #1 and their first SEC game. I think they will want to beat us as bad as they possibly can.

Maybe. But they could have beaten us A LOT worse than they did last year. We'll see, but I just don't think Kirby intends to run up in the score in games that don't matter.

I agree about last year. I don't think Kirby wanted to embarrass Beamer in his first year. This year some of the talking heads were saying Carolina was going to beat Georgia. I don't think Kirby likes that kind of thing. Also, the Georgia offense is MUCH better this season than last season and the defense looks to be close to as good as last season. They have given up 3 points in two games and Oregon scored 70 Saturday and that is hard to do against air. The UGA offensive backups have looked good enough to score plenty of points and from what I've seen they are not putting in the backup qb to do nothing but hand off to end the game.

Hopefully, we can put some points up early and keep the crowd in the game. Who knows what can happen on "any given Saturday"?

Coach Hatcher at Samford was Kirby's first boss at Valdosta State. No way he would embarrass him.

Well done. The odds makers put a number out there to attract money on both sides of the equation. They're pretty damn good at that.
That's what it's all about. That is why the line moves based on how much money is flowing to a team. Vegas wants equal amounts bet on each team and they make their money off of the juice.

Just hope posters are realistic and don't turn the board toxic the first time something goes wrong and can accept the fact we are way overmatched by our opponent. To me it's one of those grin and bear it moments. Having lived here since 1968, I can tell you there are built in advantages here that we will never have. You'd have to be a poor coach to lose here.

I think the former Georgia Tech coach made a comment once when asked about Georgia's recruiting along the lines of "The place recruits on its own". If you've spent much time in Athens you know it definitely warrants its ranking as one of the best college towns in the country. The state has 10 million people, twice what SC has and is third in the number of blue chip high school athletes produced every year. Over 80% of Georgia students are in state and many stay in state after they graduate so the alumni base is rock solid and there are lots of fans all over the state. Georgia also has large alumni bases in Charlotte, Charleston, Greenville and even Columbia. 52% of South Carolina students are out of state and many move away after graduation. Georgia also doesn't have to share the state with another major football program. There are very few times when Georgia has to compete with Georgia Tech for a top player, South Carolina has to compete with a national power for in state recruits.

Even though they have been a good program for some time now, they really were a sleeping giant until Kirby showed up.

Who was saying that?

But I'm on the side of this being business like for Georgia, and them not running up the score, shutting down after a comfortable lead.

More importantly, what is the over on the amount of times we have to hear about how Stetson Bennett was disrespected by the Georgia offensive staff last year?

Takeo Spikes said it, raised a few eyebrows. I think a couple others said this could be a loss for Georgia.

Yep. They probably didn't know at the time that we have maybe the worst OL in the league.

There may be a Muschamp factor here. Kirby may want to punish us because he thinks it's pay back for his coach. He let us down easy last year but maybe this year not so much.
