Had my doubts about Tennessee defense

Imo Vols d was pretty solid all year despite the claim of some. Their mediocre stats were skewed by having to play several snaps per game. That said, Clemson and their promising freshman qb let them off the hook all night. Had numerous snaps on their side of the field but continuously shot themselves in the foot.

Will be interesting to see how their offense next year handled losing some key guys

Tennessee played well and deserved the win. But Clemson is not very good. Dabo promoted a recruiter to OC and it showed. Same with DC, who wasn't horrible but not good enough to carry the OC. Looks to me like several teams are gaining on Clemson and I don't think they win the ACC in 23. OL is awful and the frosh QB looked lost. So get ready for the vols to start their off season NC talk.

Clemson did control the ball and gain almost 500 yards, they just kept missing field goals and mismanaging the clock at the end of the half costing a score.

Watching the game I didn't come away thinking damn that UT defense looked good. It was more ineptitude by Clemson on finishing drives and a young QB who lacked experience vs a quality opponent.

1. Clemson receivers dropped at least 5 passes that had potential big yardage.
2. OC was completely unprepared for TN blitzes, sounds familiar? Could see presnap watching the game who was coming and CU didn't pick it up.

Having said that, Milton looked good, the D played good enough and the Vols got a quality win. Gotta hand it to them.

Less than 5 ypp is abysmal. 14 points on 100 plays ran is even worse.

It will be interesting to see how they do next year without Hooker. Hooker was a heckuva college quarterback.
Heupels offense is a kingmakers offense. He maximizes a kids talent. More talent, more range. He made Landry Jones, Dillon Gabriel and Drew Lock into studs. All were or have been rather mediocre without him.
