99 years old today, 11 months older than my dad. Jesuit educated, like my dad. Loved poetry, like my dad. I miss the old guys.
Same age as my mother would have been, although she outlived him by 6 years. She was a through and through O$U fan (where she went to college) but thought well of and highly respected JoePa. She felt he was screwed over by the media and university and thrown under the bus as did many of her WWII generation did, and absolutely abhorred what was done to him. A lot of non-Penn Staters of her generation that I spoke with about the situation thought the same. That generation really went through a lot (e.g. Great Depression and WWII) that gave them a different perspective on things than later generations, who were much quicker to judge and believe BS.

I was fortunate to have had dinner at his home after a game. A great night that my wife and I will never forget. Sue and Joe were wonderful people.

The unfortunate lesson we should remember from the travesty surrounding the end of his tenure at Penn State: The Media is undefeated. If they have a bone to pick with you, they will win. They always win in the long run.

The BoT was tormented with Joe being exonerated. Even idiots in the Pittsburgh media admitted the exoneration. This also drove pitters and tOSU loons goofy. The NCAA and Penn State had to pay the Paternos.

The NCAA was effectively painted as a clown den. Only the B10 and Delaney got away with their conspiracy and thievery. Because Barron and the BoT were gutless.
