Gene Hackman is a freaking legend. From The French Connection to Mississippi Burning. But I ain't forgiving him for killing Morgan Freeman in Unforgiven.Waht?
There's also the gym where the shot the movie, in Knightstown.I actually think about Hoosiers every time people talk about the future of Boo, Audige, Beran, and Collins. I'm just imaging Boo as Jimmy Chitwood, convincing Derrick Gragg to keep Collins another year by staying another year. "I play, if Coach stays. If he goes, I go."
Hoosiers has every trick and cliché in the sports movie book, and that just makes me love it all the more. It's among the best schmaltz ever created.
And I have to say, the "museum" (really just a couple of rooms) off I-65 in Milan, IN is totally worth going to if you love the movie or basketball. Not just good artifacts from the movie, but among other things, the original bracket (and it is huge) from the HS basketball tournament that the movie was based on. I thought that was really cool.
Heart breaking. My Dad, as an off-the-bench firecracker for the Decker Aces in the late 40s, could not get enough of that fine film. I have trouble watching it these days without him.
Because the alternative is celebrating Millennials or even younger kids. Their parents celebrated them enough. We don't need strangers doing the same. Why are celebrating all these old people?
Easy now Hungry - some old people have a lot to offer! Why are celebrating all these old people?
Absolutely agree! I’m close enough to being one.Easy now Hungry - some old people have a lot to offer!![]()
Get out of here... If you're talking about Decker in Knox County, Indiana. I had an Uncle, as well as his brother(s), who played for them during what I'm thinking would have been the late 30s to early to mid-40s. If I recall correctly, my Uncle's one brother would later go on to play for Purdue. Also, I'd like to add, I think that is a very touching sentiment in your post.My Dad, as an off-the-bench firecracker for the Decker Aces in the late 40s, could not get enough of that fine film. Thought Harry Caul in "The Conversation" was one of his best performances.Gene Hackman is a freaking legend. From The French Connection to Mississippi Burning. But I ain't forgiving him for killing Morgan Freeman in Unforgiven.
I coached the 8th grade basketball team at Knightstown from 1995-1998. I love that little gym. There's also the gym where the shot the movie, in Knightstown.
Now, talk all you want about Chitwood (by the way, the real life Chitwood has a bar in Broad Ripple that serves a mean Ternderloin Sandwich), and he deserves the accolades, but who, at NU is the sweet bastard below? It's not like that championship happens without him having ice in his veins.

Yes, I’m talking about that Decker. I think Dad’s graduating class was ten or twelve kids, and I think he graduated in ‘50. iirc the town’s current population is under 1000.Get out of here... Ok, Boomer. We’re your selfish faults, you know!*Because the alternative is celebrating Millennials or even younger kids. Their parents celebrated them enough. We don't need strangers doing the same.
Good talk.
Collins is squarely Gen X, so bully for himWhat generation is Chris Collins because America's "+/-" is minus $31.4 trillion and I need somebody to blame.
Born in '74...Gen X. The cool generation.Ok, Boomer. We’re your selfish faults, you know!*
* - unless you’re Gen X, then you deserve to complain about Boomers and Millennials all you want, because we really are the absolute worst and two sides of the same stupid coin.
