That is a major about face from Church doctrine. I would not be surprised if this Pope were to pass away under mysterious circumstances.

Scalfari says to the Pope, "Your Holiness, in our previous meeting you told me that our species will disappear in a certain moment and that God, still out of his creative force, will create new species. You have never spoken to me about the souls who died in sin and will go to hell to suffer it for eternity. You have however spoken to me of good souls, admitted to the contemplation of God. But what about bad souls? Where are they punished?" Pope Francis says, "They are not punished, those who repent obtain the forgiveness of God and enter the rank of souls who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot therefore be forgiven disappear. There is no hell, there is the disappearance of sinful souls."

So, I'm not catholic and not sure how this works, but official doctrine is whatever the pope says it is, right? Now there's no hell. Awesome!

If he would just allow sex outside of marriage..

But if there's no hell, what does it matter? WHat's the point of disallowing something if there's no repercussion.

Hell is an English word used in translation of the Hebrew word "Sheol" and the Greek word "Hades". Neither of those words refer to burning or torment. They simply refer to the common grave of all mankind, with no moral distinction.

Ecc. 9:10 -  Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the Grave, where you are going.

Lol. Yep, the one guy with verifiable evidence on the planet. The pope. Pretty arrogant statement methinks.

Sounds like some ******** from Joseph Smith. "It's true guys. Magical underpants. Trust me on this"

The Vatican denies the Pope said it. The reporter isn’t the most credible either. A leftist atheist who writes “what he thinks the person meant.”

I’m not a religious guy, but I literally despise this pope...and I’ve always had respect for the others in my lifetime, but I can’t stand this clown.

Hell is primarily separation from God. That's been Catholic doctrine for centuries. I'd say that's the "disappearance" he's referencing, assuming that's an exact quote.

You would think God's son would've had the inside track when he spoke about the whole cast them into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Of course hell is not real. Anyone who thinks a loving God would punish someone for eternity is just dumb as rocks. Even the US doesn't do that to people. I would say never existing again vs whatever cool ish the righteous get to do is punishment enough.
