Thanks. I needed that.
Who was supposed to block UNL #89 who stormed through and almost sacked RH?That throw was all the more impressive when you consider that Hilinski had a DL bearing down on him and he couldn't really finish his follow-through. Yet, he put it right on the money.
Looks like it was slide protection with 98 being Schmidt's guy and 44 being Wiederkehr's guy. Problem is 44 slanted inside so hard on Wiederkehr that he literally goes to the ground and takes Schmidt's legs out from underneath him which allows 98 to have a free path to Hilinski. Schmidt is engaged with 98 up high then gets hit low by 44 which if the roles were reversed would be a penalty on the olinemen. Doesn't look like Wiederkehr hits 44 hard enough to drive him to the ground so it looks like it was almost intentional for 44 to take Schmidt out to free up 98. Hard to tell for sure.Who was supposed to block UNL #89 who stormed through and almost sacked RH?
Yeah.... they totally chop-blocked Schmidt on that play. If it's dangerous to do it to a defender, it is just as dangerous to do it to an offensive player I'd think.Looks like it was slide protection with 98 being Schmidt's guy and 44 being Wiederkehr's guy. Hard to blame Schmidt to much on that one other than to tell him to try and keep a stronger base but not sure that would've done much.
Thanks for the explanation. The devil's in the details and have to give kudos to both RH and SR. Think RH is looking better each game and hopefully shows more progress vs Rutgers--an important game for us to win because the going gets tougher until we play Purdue at Wrigley Field. RH could be the next Steve Schnur with a better arm.Looks like it was slide protection with 98 being Schmidt's guy and 44 being Wiederkehr's guy.
