I caught bits and pieces of Harbaugh's circus atmosphere during Michigan's signing day, and really thought it to be skirting near stupid, but this morning I read that the Michigan football team is going to conduct a week of their spring practice this year at the IMG Academy, a high school football factory in Florida. How in the hell can giving your entire football team an expense paid trip to Florida not be impermissible benefits. Maybe Stoops should conduct spring practice in Hawaii. Again, the NCAA is beyond the realm of logic if such crap is deemed permissible. I know...I'm getting old, but if the reins are not put on Harbaugh, the lunacy will reach epic proportions.

I had the Michigan show running in the background while I was working, I thought it was pretty cool. I mean, they had Tom Brady, a future hall of famer with super bowl rings, on the stage the whole time, brought in a bunch of other high profile alumns. They had Derek Jeter, Mike Shanahan, Lou Holtz....and how could you not like the Nature Boy Ric Flair rolling out lol. On top of that, they brought it into a venue to invite in alumns and students. To have that kinda roll out for a signing day has to grab recruits attention.

I don't think there are any restrictions on where practices take place, so long as players maintain their coursework and all that.

IMG had a few 5 stars on their team this last season didn't they? This is a recruiting move not a vacation for his players.
The door has been opened now for all teams to move around looking for a recuiting door to kick in.

He's a "you either love him or you hate him" kind of personality. I feel his antics will wear thin and people will become annoyed with him.

I don't think anyone would care if you had practice in Hawaii, I don't think any school there will have 4-5 5* kids and 15 or so 4* you would be around all week. Its no different PSU teaming up with Georgia State and having a camp in Atlanta during the summer. I won't be surprised if Harbaugh runs Urban out of the Big10 like Saban did the SEC.

The only people who count are the Michigan folks...and if he wins, they could care less.

How many schools will be doing the same thing next year? I'd guess quite a few. The new Midnight Madness I assume...only football.

We do the same thing in basketball...

signing day madness or midnight madness...they're both pep rallies...

I don't think it's a huge deal...

Harbaugh is selling his program...Michigan has the alums, celeb connections, history, pop culture standing, resources etc to pull it off in a big grand way...

no body on here has issue with Cal hosting draft camps, associating with celebs, etc...

Both of them are genius moves. Marketing a program at it's finest and it's all about recruiting.

Cal does not go somewhere else across the country for a week. Everything we do is in house.
What your comparing that the bb program is doing is like a junior day for football. That's something all programs do and all programs have their own midnight madness. It's the fans of bbn that make it crazy cool.

If Cal said we were going to go to Oakhill Academy, Huntington Prep, etc for a week for practice I would take exception to it myself.
