I love the suggestion of having all the Auburn fans bring their own cowbells to "give us a taste of our own medicine". They obviously haven't paid enough attention to realize our fans are too dumb to withhold ringing cowbells while we are at key plays on offense. I'm pretty sure our players are immune. I welcome any attempt by our opponents to ring their own cowbells - I have no doubt it would backfire.
Plus, I've always treated cowbells as a handicap for our non-bowled 50k seat stadium. I couldn't imagine a sellout crowd of 50k+ including ~20k cowbells being any louder than a rowdy 87k Auburn fans at their place. I could be underestimating the cowbell, but I just don't believe the decibels are materially different considering that a) the percentage of our fans that smuggle in cowbells is way less than half and b) their capacity far outnumbers ours. I don't think its so much the loudness factor, but the annoyance factor that gets people in a fit.
