Fairly simple job. Hook a garden hose at the bottom and drain it. Turn off power to it, disconnect wiring and hookups. Will need help to remove old one and replace it, they're not real heavy, just hard to get a hold of.

One thing to remember, DO NOT turn the breaker back on until the tank has filled up and you have water from all faucets. You will burn out the heating elements, I know this from experience.

I started replacing ours that had started leaking a few years ago. Right in the middle of the job my wife, who was 8 months pregnant at the time, informed me that the hot water heater wasn't the only thing leaking. Her water broke and we had to rush to the hospital. I planned to finish after the baby was born but being 4 weeks early they sent us to UK Children's hospital where we had to spend the next week with her in the NICU. Needless to say I had a plumber finish the job for me.

Yes. It’s pretty simple and I’m not that handy.

Google a YouTube clip and you won’t have a problem.
