Don't like starting anywhere but 125 but they must have wanted to draw????

157 VVIII UR vs UR Came out 1st in a hostile environment and wrestled well. TUFF hand fighting led to a nice shot/TD. He got to his "leg ride" to wear guy down some and build riding time. Made it a lil interesting with 16 seconds left!!! Give him a solid A

165 CALIENDO 3 vs UR got to work pretty quick, kid was long and lanky. I don't think it was Mickeys best match as I would expect at least a major. Maybe give the other kid credit for doing just enough???? 80

174 KENNEDY 3 vs 5 Zeros in 1st as usual, he gets into the snap down short Offense position but does not look to score??? Kid down, out after short ride. KENNEDY in deep with a TD but ref blows time?!?!?!? That was BS!!! Anyway IOWA down after the "injury" and out. Trade escapes and KENNEDY wins a Battle. These will be the matches he has to win moving forward so 100

184 ARNOLD UR vs 8 I think he has a new pair of shoes every match??? Maybe he owns NIKE??? ARNOLD shows some crazy ability, just does not do it consistently!!! For example his "flying head Grandby" off bottom was CRAZY!!! The end of match in OT where he was awarded TD and then reversed was ????? Did he have hip covered/control??? Anyway, HAVE TWOOOO have MORE OFFENSE 8-3 for the effort!!!

197 SAMSON like the name!!! UR vs 10 Kid was fighting his *** off and he appears to be getting better!!! Has a nice frame to add plenty of Muscle. ALMOST caught the chump with a "high flyer" would have been EPIC!!! 8-3 for the effort!

Heavy KRUETER 8 vs 3 zeros end one with no real attempts either wrestler. Gave up 1st TD on a straight double, got out pretty quick but nothing more. Buck chose N
start 3rd so a TD most likely wins it. Just no decent shots. grade NG for NOT GREAT!!!

125 PETERSON(nice to see him) 6 vs 2 I am not sure what he was thinking/trying to do in that first tie up!?!?!? Maybe a lil "rusty" but he was in a bad position and it was almost like he didn't realize it or thought he could still win it??? Gave up 7 and could not over come it!!!! He did get into the same tie and wrestled much smarter leading to his own TD. GOOD news is he can beat that CHUMP!!!! 75

133 AYALA 9 vs 2 He shot late end 1 and could not convert. This became a theme as it happened in the 2nd and at the end of THREEEE. He wrestled much better and the good news is, He can beat that CHUMP!!! 75

141 PETERSEN ur vs 1 Kid did what he could against a real BUZZSAW!!! He was hand fighting trying some shots etc..... Give him another 8-3 for the effort

149 BLOCK 18 vs 7 Had a slick slide by but got into a scramble instead of a clean finish. Kinda the story of the night for us. EVERYTHING was just a bit off/NOT going our way!!!! We lose again in OT good news is ......... 75


NOT sure what to think overall??? Do you see the glass as 1/2 full, 1/2 empty, or do you just wanna SMASH Fing thing into pieces!?!?!?!?

Hey Dude I am not disagreeing with you!!! There is much work to be done. Seems like everything that could go wrong, HAS!!! Right now, I am looking for that path back to the top as is EVERYONE not F*** st. When you have ALL the CRAP happening to the HAWKS what seems to be ALL the time!!!!

It gets frustrating for sure, but in this new POS ncaa environment. Things can and WILL change quickly!!! It is a matter of, will IOWA be one of the teams to move forward??? B1Ggest issue I have right now is NOT seeing the progress in blazing that path, yet still seeing steps in the WRONG direction!!!

Ya know WE all sit here pointing fingers and making statements about what IOWA needs to/should do. EVERYTHING from changing ALL the coaches to moving coaches to....... Question remains, what is the POS AD doing???? What makes us lose BASSETT(#1 this year) His brother(#1 next year) His other Brother,(possible another #1) as well as an inroad to McCort!?!?!??

This is NOT a SMALL issue my friends!!! You know if I am say BOB the B1G donor, I am in some ones FACE!!!! This is NOT an injury issue to a current wrestler that we are trying to hide or some shEEETTTT!!! This is a question that should be asked STRAIGHT OUT!!!! and it should read very simply.

AGAIN, to use a quote "I like our guys" with what we have, what we have coming in, and what we SHOULD have had. The path was there!!! NOT to leave anyone out but I like Deluca for example! I like the inroads we have appeared to make into NJ. I think MOCCO could be the best of all the HEAVYs coming in(needs to add HP)(another topic) (Maybe for another thread?)

FERRARI ARNOLD BLOCK etc.... with the above mentioned and those coming in WITH BASSETT!!!! You MAY have the team to take out POS Krailure!!!!

Listened to Iowa v Ohio State wrestling match Friday night on Hawkeye Radio Network, not much excitement there! The Keuter match was virtually seven (7) minutes of radio silence;. How can you describe the excitement of seven minutes of standing-around, and be entertaining? This is a hard product for radio to sell, seems unlikely I'll be 'watching' future matches on the Hawkeye Radio Network.

Waiting for Godot, Samuel Beckett. 'Godot will be here soon, maybe tomorrow'. A play in which nothing happens, twice.

Ironside left after the first half of the dual for other commitments. His commentary was sorely missed.

Competitive with who? ISU and Minn? Ohio st? PSU? Cause we’re about 10 pieces away from being competitive with PSU. If the guys putting the pieces together aren’t smart enough to put them together you’ll never get the puzzle finished. As of right now they’re showing they aren’t smart enough to finish the puzzle.

Dean Peterson - B - 7 point move derailed him, but hung tough the rest of the way

Ayala - B (setting himself up for a Mark Branch National Title run, entering the tournament with a losing record 😉)

Kale Petersen - B - hung in longer than I thought he would getting thrown to the Wolf

Ryder Block - B - got it to SV, wasn't able to make it happen. His early season promise is going the wrong way

Victor Voinivich - A - Got the W, beautiful takedown, which are hard to come by in a Black and Gold singlet

Mikey Caliendo - A- - Should have gotten major at minimum, but he gets takedowns, and likely leads the team by 500 of them or so at this point .......

Patrick Kennedy - A- - Got fortunate with the injury timeout, but stingy opponent, so ended about like it looked like on paper I guess

Gabe Arnold - A- - Took it to SV (of course he did 🙂), but up a weight against a Top Ten guy. I think he got screwed, but I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night so.....

Brody Sampson - A, for effort. The kid is overmatched and not his fault he's in there. He's a room guy, and glad to have him.

Ben Kueter - D- - Feldman is no slouch, beautiful takedown by him. But Big Ben showed zip, zero, nada in match against a guy who he was 3-0 against. Was never in it essentially.

Team D - Go up 9-0 and have momentum then completely **** the bed after that. Their seeds are dropping faster than Makaela Shiffrin on a downhill run.

I just added up and averaged the grades you gave above. (You only graded nine guys.) I used 95 for the solid A you gave VV. That resulted in those nine guys receiving an average grade of 83+. We got our doors blown off last night and you called it an above average performance overall?

Hmmm, I guess you haven't been around here TWOOOO long huh???? er wait a minute........ I guess the 8-3 grades went right over your head!!!!

83% is KINDA famous round deez parts!!! I Always try to give at least one 8-3 (read eight three) grade!!! Here I will admit, I was being VERY generous but did write 8-3 for the effort!!!!

ARNOLD wrestled up a weight and although I hated the lack of offense, He is doing what he can for the TEAM and wrestled a quality kid and maybe won depending on how you view that TD call?!?!?

PERTERSEN Wrestled one of the current best in the POS ncaas

so while you could just give them all 65, circled D , F or however you see it???? I want to give them credit for stepping up.

Right on. I’d say you did an above average job with that. (Btw, all the scores you gave averaged out to 83 and I’m doubting THAT was intentional.)

Block gets a D from me. He is looking much like years past anymore, even has the knee pad on the left leg. Shoots from space without speed or power. His best offense seemed to be a slide by a couple of times catching Stiles off guard but not close to committing to finishing. He seems to have lost his aggressiveness, power and speed. Hopefully he can get a 6 seed at Big Tens and maybe a pull out an upset on the bottom half to get to semis.

Wonder if this is still too big a cut for him and it’s getting to him now deep in the season? Think him and Williams should switch weights next year if Williams still around.
