He has to bench Garrison and Johnson

I don't know how you can be the UK coach and either be too nice to do this or even worse, not see it. These two guys just kill us. Garrison is the lowest basketball IQ player I've ever seen and plays with negative energy. Jasper is obviously trying to "get his" and audition for the NBA. This is not BYU or Utah State. Tough decisions are required at this level. You can't play the "everyone gets to play" mentality at UK. Either you play for the name on the front of the jersey and perform or you get permanently planted at the end of the bench and forgotten. That's what needs to happen to BG and JJ. They're cancers.

Jasper Johnson played 14 minutes last night. He had 8 points 2 rebounds and 0 assists last night. Otega Oweh played 31 minutes 12 points 4 rebounds and 3 assists, and had terrible facials when Coach Pope was speaking about the team being bigger than any 1 particular player. Oweh is the one that needs to sit. Garrison 2 points 4 rebounds and 2 assists in 21 minutes.

The coach is the problem. He doesn’t even know what his best lineup is. It’s like the season came and pope was asleep. I feel like somethings are going on with pope personally. It’s like he just shows up with platitudes and distracted. My opinion is he’s trying that work/life balance trend and that doesn’t apply to ceos, and cbb coaches. He’s a tight family man and he has to be willing to have a metaphorical divorce and go all in as our coach. That’s what’s required. Idk pope being surprised and showing all this emotion he’s definitely out of touch

Jasper reminds me of Quickley as a Freshman, 5 star guard and he gets out there and you wonder why. We all know how Quickley improved, hopefully JJ follows a similar track.

Jasper is definitely playing for the name on the back of the Jersey. Garrison, nothing else needs to be said. They both need to be benched. The difference is there’s hope for Jasper.
I see Oweh playing for the name on his back way more than Jasper is. Garrison isn't playing for the name on either side of his uniform he's just drawing his check.

That's not an uncommon path for good, but not lottery pick, freshman guards. It took Quick a season. Ashton Hagans was terrible during the first half of his freshman season and then was good during SEC play. Teague took half the season to figure it out. It took Miller a bit as well.

I’m not sure what you’re watching. Jasper jacks it up every time he touches the ball.

I'm watching Oweh dribble into traffic, play olay defense, not rebound, throw terrible passes and jack bad out of the flow busted jumpers. He's a volume scorer, and he's not scoring that well. Along with his constant boo boo face.

Johnson has to play. We have to coach him up. Garrison should be relegated to the far end of the bench. He ain't got it.

Johnson is backup already

He is not starter

And you have to play Jasper regardless because we have no guards

Garrison should not see the floor anymore, it is disgraceful

People will be critical of Johnson until he has that game where he hits multiple 3s. Then he will be the best again.
Nah, couldn’t give two flips, he’s erratic and out of control, he’s an army of one, shooting from 27ft away on a break with not a single player in position to rebound, he’s talented, though brutally selfish as a player.

Again, who you can play.

You can not make Aberdeen and Colin play 40 minutes

Someone has to take the minutes

If Garrison isn't riding the pine next game to start, strike 3. Incapable of the most basic adjustments.

Have to agree. If we’re making a list of things Mark Pope CANNOT DO moving forward, starting Brandon Garrison is a resounding #1.

For that matter, I don’t think he should play at all. Give Reece Potter a chance. Garrison’s effort last night was a disgrace.

If Garrison can not work, Potter could have a try

It could not get any worse

Quigley wasn’t a selfish *** like Jasper. He’s seriously the most selfish player I’ve ever seen at UK. We had Cal for 15 years and loads of NBA guys who never played “me ball” to the level Jasper is playing it. I’d give him an ultimatum either play team ball or go ruin someone else’s team.

Are you watching the same team as the rest of us? Did JJ steal your lunch money and/or your girl in middle school?

BJ Boston was very selfish as well.

You mean Oweh and Garrison.

Johnson has chemistry with Moreno. Johnson is selfish but I feel like he can change.

I hope you are right. He's pretty tough to watch right now. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just feel like he and BG jump offense the screen as whats wrong with this team right now. Low effort and selfish.

The issue is that we have at least four players doing things they shouldn't.

JJ plays no defense, over dribbles, and forces shots.

Oweh takes way too many threes and isn't locked in defensively this year.

Mo D thinks he's suddenly a stretch four. Most of his threes barely draw iron.

Garrison still thinks he's a stud.

All four of these guys have played hella selfish.

Noah you factor in Noah who doesn't give us much of anything defensively.

Give the starting minutes to:

G - Aberdeen
G - Chandler
F - Williams
F - Mo-D (but tell him that if he misses his first three, he's not allowed to shoot any more)
C - Moreno

I am going a different direction.
Play Owen, Johnson, Mo D and Garrison. Start them and make them play all 40 minutes.
Let them look at what it looks like when you have no support.
Substitute in the fifth player as needed.
