Throwing his name out there early, along with Gruden: https://www.espn.com/college-footba...-fisher-lot-give-eyes-college-coaching-return

It's not a coincidence that both of these coaches are putting their names out there early in the process, as there are a number of very vulnerable coaches in the SEC this season. Certain fanbases will clamor for the likes of Gruden or Fisher should their team falter early.

Most likely schools to be under pressure if coaches don't really get it going this year:
Auburn
UF
UK
OU

Wild card: Bama. Fans are not going to put up with another 3-loss season.

UK is probably a stretch for either Gruden or Fisher, but if Stoops has another meh season, the fans will certainly get noisy about it.

I think most other coaches are safe. Lebby at MSU is on thin ice, but don't see that being a factor for either Gruden or Fisher.

Bama could go 0-12 and they wouldn't hire Jimbo. He proved at aTm that he is not much of a coach without a Heisman level qb and the ability to cheat. His rosters at aTm were absolutely loaded with talent and he didn't do anything.

NIL destroyed FSU and Auburn. Those two programs thrived on cheating by paying players. NIL took away their only recruiting advantage.

Very doubtful. Bama fans will want to aim high, for sure. But if it looks like Auburn might pick up either one, that puts more pressure on DeBoer.

I could see Bama making a strong run at Kiffen, Lanning or Dabo if DeBoer has another unacceptable season. I don't see them having any interest in a coach who was fired for not performing.

Dabo would be a fool to leave Clemson.

Jimbo Fisher should be banned for life from coaching after that con job at A&M.

He had the entire Kingdom at his fingertips and flopped about as hard as one can flop with stacked deck.

His apathy on their sidelines was more than palpable.

A&M spent more than $75 Million just to fire him.

Only a man completely devoid of a conscience accepts that entire sum.

Risk-adjusted returns (ala Sharpe Ratio) consistently has shown that teams with top-10 recruiting classes (e.g. BAMA, UGA, etc.) achieve high win percentages (0.870+) with low variability (yielding high ratios -- e.g., 2.5-3.0).

At the elite schools, "finding the right coach" is more a function of "don't F this up."

We don't have that luxury -- especially in this NIL environment.

Nevertheless, having a national title under your belt carries a lot of weight with programs. I'm not a Jimbo believer, but if he wants back into coaching, he'll land somewhere pretty decent. Some program won't be able to resist the name draw.

No doubt.

I'm not sure how much weight a name carries these days though if AD Departments have any brains at all.

I'd much rather pick up a successful mid-tier D1 coach for a couple million a year save the other $87 million of Jimbo's salary to throw at talent.
