My dad, brother, and I are headed to DC for his Navy ship's reunion. 3 days are pretty much full but we will have 3 evenings (after 4) to do whatever. Going to tour Annapolis, the Navy Ship Yard, Arlington, and a river boat cruise. Any dining, entertainment recs in and around the city? I've been to DC twice and have done the monuments, museums deal but will probably head to the Lincoln Memorial.

Be sure to see the changing of the guard while at Arlington.

We enjoyed seeing Ford's Theater, plus the Peterson House across the street from Ford's, where they carried Lincoln after he was shot.

If you get a chance go over to the wharf in Alexandria. It's at the end of Old Town Alexandria and there are some really great seafood restaurants there. Old Town is also very nice.

I love D.C., maybe my favorite city to hang out in. Have fun, basically whatever you do is going to be pretty cool and there are tons of great restaurants all over the place.

This. Old Town seems to get overlooked quite often. I get why since it's across the river, but there's a water taxi that runs from Old Town to Georgetown daily.

So you'll be near the Navy Yard and SE?

Neither are fancy or "must visit" but Eastern Market is worthwhile, especially for breakfast and lunch: good cheap eats.

Ted's Bulletin is real close to the Navy Yard (literally across the street from the Commodore's residence IIRC); a family style restaurant that's reasonably priced and is known for their desserts.

There are several good ethnic restaurants on 8th SE between E and I streets. A good area to walk around to find an interesting restaurant as there are many along 8th. Rose's Luxury is a little more chic IIRC (and pricier) but interesting nonetheless.

Pizza? Matchbox and &Pizza are both reasonably priced.

There's a Turkish place on 8th also: Cafe 8?

Ambar and Belga are interesting ethnic spots.

The Capital Grill near Penn Ave NW is worth visiting: neat restaurant but very difficult to get in. IIRC its across the street from the White House.

Arlington is a must see IMHO.

bourbon steak is a swanky restaurant. good cocktails and food.
off the record is old school
i've been wanting to go to del campo...its meat, lots of meat.
the seafood wharf area is all under construction, but its a cool place to sit down and eat a pound or two of crawfish for super cheap.
any of the hanks oyster bars are great for oysters and beer
