Not much to say regarding light at the end of the tunnel. This season is lost. We are going to get hit with transfers in all likelihood. The 2027 recruiting class has gone from promising to nothing, and I suspect there are going to be a lot of 2026 decommitments too.

We are(n't) better for the foreseeable future.

Transitions are always rough and filled with insecurity, especially early on. How this goes now rests on Kraft and how he handles this coaching search and who they decide on.

I’m surprised Kraft didn’t keep Franklin until season’s end to give him some cover while all the behind the scenes stuff played out.

That's okay--HS recruiting no longer has the same importance

What could he have done? If he told Franklin he would be done at the end of the season, the disarray would have worsened and the recruits would have still decommited since Franklin couldn't honestly say he'd be their HC.

I don't think Kraft had a choice. Franklin needed to live to fight another day, and he didn't. At home and a 21.5 point favorite.

That said, I agree with your comments about the transitions. There will be a huge amount of activity. Kids and families are going to react. It's normal.

I thought he’d say nothing to Franklin or anyone else until after the season was over. Most assumed Franklin would be back because of the buyout.

Totally disagree. We are already better by getting rid of an underachieving coach. The future looks bright for our blue blood national brand.

For the record, there was no guarantee anyone in that 2027 was ever going to sign their LOI anyway

You maybe correct, however, watching the games… Franklin looked spent and beat without any answers. Jmho.

You are probably correct, but I won't complain. I am very much grateful for the 60 plus years of closely following a wonderful program, which was for several reasons one of a kind. For the younger fans, I hope a turn around comes soon and you can enjoy some of what we older fans experienced. Stay with it guys.

I mean, what did everyone think would happen? We'll get a coach and he'll bring players and recruits. That's how it works.

We aren't Alabama, and even their program really suffered when the Bear was done. The jury is out on their post-Saban success. The road looks bumpy from here.

Let's wait to see who Kraft brings in and if they can salvage things. They will not shoot for some middling up and comer. It will be a top flight hire and it won't be Rhule just to be clear.

Where does the $$ come from? This is going to be an a damn expensive departure. Forget the introduction.

I think we got very lucky hiring O'Brien. I have a hard time believing there was a better man for that job. I also think we got very lucky hiring Franklin. He may not have won it all, but he did a lot of our football program. I want to think positive and believe we will go 3 for 3!

Franklin hired at the time the best OC's & DC's he could, some moved on , some failed him.

Some Assistants are dead weight, and some players are fat catting it on NIL. I liked JF in
the beginning, he made some good changes, but eventually too many changes and loyalty
to some players might have been the last straw.

Maybe again some coaches might have wanted Beau or other portal players. NIL is rat poison.

O'Brien was good up until he said "Paterno people". Then he was dead to me
lol. You do realize that there were Penn State fans calling in all the time and leaving messages on what he should be doing/needed to be doing. Those folks deserved to be called out. Maybe you were one of them.

I am just hoping we get a great QB and OC coach. Penn State will be fine and decommits can always recommit to a new coach. We will still get the talent and I am not writing the next 2 years off. This team has a very strong bond and too much pride and talent to phone in rest of the season. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if we win a game or 2 we are not supposed to win. Beat Iosa.

Both were the perfect guy for the situation at their times. And each left at the right time. Kraft will do a great job here. He seems way more ‘all in’ and committed than Curley and is leagues above Jagoff Joyner and pathetic Barber.
