Helped Dickie V win an argument tonight

Just happened to be seated in the booth next to his group at Moto's tonight . When we sat down he explained that one of the guys at his table Thought UL was the school where the cheerleaders won all of the competitions but to please tell him it was UK which we did. Dickie then jokingly said UK has great cheerleaders but it is a shame they can't play basketball. Friendly nice guy. Fun evening . Love the SEC tourney . Lots of fun.

Both schools win a ton of cheerleading championships, actually. They compete in different associations. Between Louisville small co-ed squad, their large co-ed squad, and their all-female squad Louisville has won 31 national NCA championships. Kentucky has won 20 UCA national championships.

As much as I love UK....you should have lost that argument. Lol. all good though. They can keep the cheerleading crown as long as we run basketball...

NCA is dance and pyramid.
UCA is stunting and cheering.
Unfortunately you can't really compare the two.
It would be nice to see the UK cheerleaders stomp OTIS cheerleaders though.

So why does UL have to compete in "sub" categories to win championships?

UK wins the ultimate national championship of collegiate cheering. They use everyone on their team to preform....not breaking them up to fit a certain requirement to compete against fewer teams with lesser talent.

Our home highschool does exactly what UL does and it is hilarious.

"We competed in the minimal, small team, rural, all white, county population of between 29-31,000, school colors must include red and all cheerleaders must be between 5'1-5'4 category of NCA and WE WON!!!! LOOK AT OUR TROPHY AND FLAG!"

How many teams competed in the competition?

Two. Sometimes One lol true story.

I failed to mention the funniest thing that happened. Our waitress was not a basketball fan and had no idea who Dickie V is. She asked him if he knew there was a basketball tournament in town and was he here to see it?

He was very gracious about it and the people with him really thought it was funny.

Despite some of the people here always complaining about Dickie V (although some of the posts I agree with as well), he loves Cal, UK basketball, and college basketball in general. In fact, he is exactly like he is on t.v. with his enthusiasm and he will talk to us casual fans like we are his co-broadcaster partner and listen to what you have to say as well. If you are ever in Sarasota, Fl, go eat at the Broken Egg as he had a piece of the action and you will find him there some mornings sitting at a table by himself. You can go talk to him and he welcomes you like a long lost friend. I sat with him for over an hour and it was me that finally had to think of an excuse to leave. Super guy and remember he doesn't have to be that way to the general public. Try approaching Bobby Knight.....
