NC State should have never let him go when they did. Gottfried has turned out pretty good, but Sidney Lowe was a complete disaster.

Just think....Sendek took the Wolfpack to the tournament his last five years there, but yet they didn't keep him. Doesn't make sense.

I mentioned on a thread last week that I wondered if his time was up at ASU.

I have to respectfully disagree about his time at NCSU. It was time for both to move on, a very high percentage of my friend who are State fans total agree.

Its not about who replaced him because Lowe was awful, but more that Sendek had absolutely taken them as far as he could. Lowe was nowhere near the replacement they thought they'd get.

Anyway, Gotts is doing pretty good there now.

Wouldn't it be something if Archie Miller ended up at ASU.

The Miller brothers are two of the very best young coaches in America.

Jeff Capel's job if he wants it apparently. I hope, selfishly, he doesn't take the job.

This.

Also, head coach at ASU is honestly a step down from top assistant at Duke.

Capel wasn't staying long, given where he's been. Only he can decide what the right situation will be. ASU? He could do worse. I actually thought of him when the Alabama job opened up, but who knows?

Capel would seem a better candidate for Alabama, IMO. It's hard to win out west....especially with Miller being so hot in the same state and Alford bringing in talent at UCLA.

Just my opinion, but the ASU isn't all that attractive to me.

And while it's a good thing to see our assistants move on and become head coaches, it would be a blow to lose three guys in consecutive years. And as has already been mentioned....Capel is killing it on the recruiting trail.

This would be 3 years in a row losing an assistant to a head coaching job. This has got to be a love/hate thing for Coach K. He loves to see his former players and assistants getting a chance to thrive by themselves. But he must hate having to give them up and promote those who may not be as equipped as Collins/Wojo/Capel.

Only because HOF Coach Roy Williams told him how cool it was to turn down things like that. OFC

Pisgah and Sky: If you read a recent endpiece in SI on college hockey, a comment by one of the recruits regarding ASU was, "Have you seen the girls who go to school there?"
Maybe ASU wouldn't be a bad gig after all. (I'm not saying Jeff cares about the coeds, but recruits might)

One of my best friends from high school went to ASU. And if the coeds are half as good as they were in the mid-90s then ASU is the place to be for an 18-year-old male. Their quad on a sunny, mid-80s kind of day? Oh heavens....

I'll stop now.

Alabama is a terrible job. That school is football and then everything else is way down the list. ASU is going to always be second fiddle to UA but I would imagine there is enough recruits on the west coast to go around. If Utah can have a program that competes in the Pac 12 and make the Sweet 16 so can ASU

Kind of being selfish, but I hope he doesn't take that job. I just believe that an assistant at Duke is better than being a HC there. By the way, it is his job if he wants it.
Also, they don't seem to really be into their basketball program.
Go Duke!!
