He shared his concern about realignment, and said, “are we headed to these 4 mega conferences where eventually we pull away from the NCAA?”

“If that’s case, I don’t know how you guys feel, I feel a lot of friction right now with the conference commissioners,” Herbstreit said. “They’re supposed to be kind of in the same room working together, which they’ve done a brilliant job of in the past. But right now it kind of feels like everybody’s worried about their backyard, their constituents, the fans and coaches and players and athletics directors and presidents.”

To change that, there needs to be a change at the top to cut down on the animosity in the room, he said.

“I feel like we need one voice that worries, like a Roger Goodell,” Herbstreit said. “He’s not worried about the NFC East, Roger Goodell’s worried about the entire NFL, and I feel like the more we’re changing, at some point, we need whether it’s a Greg Sankey or whoever it is, we need a voice. We need a person that looks out at the entire country and not doing his job of just looking out over his conference.”

I agree with having 4 mega conferences where eventually they pull away from the NCAA.

They would need a commissioner over them, like the NFL, to oversee everything. There needs to be a person that is doing his job of running a smooth organization.

As he said there needs to be a change at the top to cut down on the animosity between the commissioners. They could still have 4 guys working their conference but there needs to be a president or whatever to oversee those 4 and make sure they follow guide lines. But if this occurs then are they really a college team representing their college?

Boy are you two guys are in for it. I pretty much said the same thing two or three weeks ago and Greg threw a fit. Delete your posters or face his wrath of Master Mega threader himself.

Somewhat hilarious Herbstreit is pushing SEC commissioner Sankey to run college football.

Problem for this ESPN mouthpiece is that the B10/PAC and ACC--as a direct result of interference by Sankey behind the others backs are now moving in a direction where THEY will control everything and the SEC will have more mouths to feed but not as much clout.

All of this is probably going to eventually tear the game apart as the people trying to run things don't seem to comprehend that without fans there is no college football. AS they try to push things in a direction where millions of fans are eliminated then what? Good luck get to care if only a southern league has games on.

Maybe with pulling away from the NCAA they could also get rid of the fake academic BS as well. I don't care how good a school is, all major players have athletes on those teams that are not academically inclined. So if the football players themselves are all on roughly the same academic footing then what does it matter for conference affiliation?

Would help if they got rid of this Clearinghouse garbage.

Take away NCAA and there would not be this conference realignment garbage. Everyone could cheat freely.
