I know sir, but if we don’t take the opportunity to remember those who have gone before us, especially the good ones, they’re forgotten. Sir.

Every time duke plays UNC, or the penguins plays the flyers, it’s a chance….

I think that’s an amazing sentiment and I wholeheartedly agree with you!

My only thought would be that in such moments of remembrance it might be helpful to include some passing reference like “… there in the great beyond…” or “… as you’re smiling down upon us” just to avoid any awkwardness over someone thinking the OP wasn’t aware of the actual passing of the person being remembered :)

Again though, an awesome type of post to put out there!

Interesting you posted a Stones song (and fitting in this thread to me), about 15-20 years ago Glov and I got into a Stones best song thang for an evening, good fun….

I remember he was a big Stones fan and that's why I posted it.

RIP Glov! A board legend for sure
Indeed.
His passing left a void here. We shared a common bond, McKees Rocks. I don't live in the Rox, but had relatives who did, and spent many happy days there in my youth when it was a bustling community. We never met, although he extended an invitation once, but, much to my regret, I turned it down due to my wife's privacy concerns. He was one of a kind. May he Rest in Peace.

I have never become close with anyone from the board, but I do remember Glov and remember having plenty of conversations with him about Pittsburgh sports. He was good one. It's good to remember him.

Maybe a persons board name could gradually become a symbol of a particular position or belief, regardless of the individual poster. If Glov was strong for UNC over Dook and someone else (perhaps nittanyfan333, the starter of this thread) was strong for Dook over UNC then maybe those names in the context of UNC-Dook could refer to the position rather than the specific poster.

So Glov just represents people hoping UNC beats Dook. And nittanyfan333 represents people hoping Dook beats UNC.

Then many years go by and people on here fade away or pass away. And then when the people on here argue about UNC vs Dook, using the terms Glove and nittanyfan333, now and then someone will say "Why does the word 'Glov' mean 'people hoping UNC beats Dook?" And maybe some old timer that remembers Glov will say "He was a guy on this board way back when, yadda, yadda, and he was a big Rolling Stones fan too." Or maybe it gets lost to history and nobody knows why it's that way, but Glov's name lives on in perpetuity regardless.
