inspired by some of the crap we've read on the paddock what hobbies don't you understand that people enjoy? Here's a start:

1. Rock climbing-who the hell enjoys the possibility of certain death once they have reached 40 feet in the air if they miss a damn step?

2. Drones- I dedicate this to our drone extodinare. I've never been droning before but over than being a nosey pain in the *** I have no idea the fun you get out of it.

3. Pokémon/Magic the gathering- if you're over the age of 10 and you're into this **** you need to reevaluate your life and go get laid. I collected baseball cards as a kid which I've held on to but that was 20 years ago.

4 world poker tour fans- you guys are just douchebags

5. Rice burner car guys- you sir are also douchebags and should be deported to the home country of your pos car with your stupid *** muffler system thinking your whip is bad *** since it sounds like **** and you've put dubs on it and dropped it to the ground.

There's a few to get the paddock going. We need a fresh topic here to kick it up a notch in this *****. Give em hell paddock

Or maybe not. Maybe you should do some rock climbing without ropes.

Fantasy Sports- I play Fantasy football and I enjoy it but listening to the radio calls tells me people like it too much. When you hear the same guy 2 or 3 times a week then somebody needs a break.

Adult coloring books- My nephew and his wife do this and I can't see why. The last time I spent time in a coloring book it was when I was spending time with a child.

I've never understood collecting/getting peoples autographs. It's never had any value to me. I think it's even more bizarre when you didn't personally get the autograph, you just bought something someone wrote their name on. Still, even as a kid if I saw someone famous, I'd just rather not bother them.

I could get behind that as a retiree, actually. Gives you a good excuse to get out in nature, something to obsess over, etc.

Seems like a solid hobby for someone without a lot to do. Sort of like low impact gardening.

The weird hobbies are when people overly fetishize something.

For instance, an uncle of a college girlfriend would take two foot tall Ken dolls and dress them in period-specific military uniforms. The guy made bank and would spend no telling what buying tiny uniforms, medals, canteens, rifles and stuff that had to be entirely replica, down to the smallest details. Then he would dress up these dolls and display them in glass cases in his basement.

My theory was that he hated his wife and was too religious for divorce or drinking. That guy just refused to leave the basement and sat down there dressing up army men for the bulk of his free time.

That's a weird hobby, imo.

The breakdown has to be like 85% Confederate to 15% Union reenactors, right? I can't see a big demand north of the Mason-Dixon line for this.

How do the numbers work to do the battles? Do Union guys get comped like hot girls at night clubs? Does everyone have to take a turn as a Yankee to get the numbers right?

I don't understand most hobbies but I figure it's something to take up the time of individuals who might otherwise be bothering me. Especially the weirdos that do stuff like LARPing, pokemon go, etc.

I also don't see how most people have time for hobbies. Especially people with kids. If I get 30 minutes a week not working or taking care of my kids, it's usually spent doing some house repair or something. I'm constantly amazed at how people have so much free time.

Hank, I don't know how it works man. haha But I can confidently say that the crowd break down was 110% Confederate and 0% Union.

Everything in moderation is a good hobby. I play golf, disc golf, pokemongo, etc. All of which get me out of the house and are a good time.

Just don't understand hating on what certain people enjoy. Do what makes you happy; just don't get obsessed with it. Some of you are miserable ********.

"My hobby is better than your hobby!" ....not really, man.

As I get older, being fanatically crazy over sports has looked more and more idiotic. I used to get crazy when the cats lost. At the end of the day, it doesn't mean anything. Life still goes on. Hald the games I got really pissed off about, I don't even remember now.

is that a thing? as in like . . a hobby? and would that make sucking penis a hobby? because I applaud the chicks who make a hobby out of that, but for any dudes who do it, that would be an example of "a hobby I don't understand". Anybody who wants to ignore this post with silence (not liking, etc.), I'll know what . . . that means.

just a comment or two about war reenactments. These things have been around for a very long time - since well before the Am. Civil War. War reenactments have been around since the early post-enlightenment period, and can probably be traced to Royal Houses in England, reenactment of Napoleonic wars shortly after those wars ended, soon extended to reenactment of war battles of more ancient times as a means to preserve and teach history.

In the states, people think only of Civil War reenactments and think only that reenactments are some effort by modern southern "hangers on". Several years ago, however, I took my nephews to a couple of reenactments, the one that was most impressive was at Ft. Massac near Metropolis, Illinois - a reenactment of French-Indian war at a location that was also of some importance during the war of 1812. The reenactment has become critical to the overall preservation and understanding of this important location and, by itself, would very likely rival the effort of any CW reenactment one might encounter.

Dude birds are freaking hilarious. Me and my buddy used to set on a balcony drinking beer in Pigeon Forge and watch ducks. These 3 males came up on this duck couple and the three males took turns fighting the male while the 3rd one was banging his female mate. Also watched a crane hunt down a baby goose one time on the same balcony. Anyway, I could definitely see doing that when I was old..

I enjoyed going shooting when I had my rifle. It was only a Ruger 10/22 so it was cheap to shoot. I could spend hours shooting for less than $10. I preferred shooting things like pumpkins and melons. Much better than shooting at paper. Besides, how often are you going to get to fire your gun if you don't hunt and no one breaks into your house? Got to make sure it is working properly.

I second the fantasy stuff. Played it a bit, didn't care that much. Others were obsessed and the prize wasn't even worth the effort.

It's kind of lame and a little bit pathetic to buy magazines and listen to some other guy's opinion on who to release and sign and draft for your make believe team .
