He should at least be charged. Let the courts get all the information (and don’t let the league have any say in this).
And charge him immediately. I feel like this could very well go either way. Let it be played out in court, not the court of public opinion.

I don't think he intended to kill anybody but the skate to the face was intentional and something I've never seen in 56 years of being a hockey fan.
