I'm heading to Hawaii Wednesday and any recommendations would be appreciated. Planning on seeing the Pearl Harbor memorial and going scuba diving

You need to check out Big Kahunas over off the main strip. Excellent seafood. Fresh right out of Hawaiian waters. Or you can check out Nui Loas. A Hawaiian/Polynesian gastro pub. Mauka Makai's is a pizza place that has the best pineapple on it. If you're looking for something expensive. Try Kapu Lanai. They have a dish that they won't tell you what's in it, but you have to trust them. lol

Arrive early (numerous) small tours, snorkel at Huanama Bay, world class and gorgeous. Rent car and take 1 hr drive to the beaches of the North Shore. Climb Diamond Head its right in Wai Ki Ki --- spelling on everything above likely wrong, but the spots are legit

Go to the Polynesian Cultural Center on the North Shore. It's worth a day and the show and dinner at the end of the day

Cemetery of the Pacific. Beautiful cemetery with lots of WWII vets and unbelievable views of Honolulu.

Do yourself a favor and make sure you get some Chantilly cake while you're there. It's incredible. Also, make sure you eat as much fresh poke as possible and take a surfing lesson too. Most of the sharks are in Maui so don't be nervous.

Went fresh out of highschool on my honeymoon so felt a little overwhelmed and didn't see as much as I would have liked, but the Polynesian Culture Center and Hanauma Bay snorkeling are must do's. Stayed at the Hitoln Hawaiian Village and it was spectacular. North Shore is also something to be seen. Would love to get back one day and visit the island of Lanai which is supposed to be one of the most beautiful islands in the Pacific.

If you want to to something a little different:

Hawaii Shark Encounters
will take you out from Haleiwa on the North Shore to a spot and put you in a cage with 4 to 6-foot sharks swimming all about. If the surf isn't bad you shouldn't get seasick, but if you are adventurous enough, it's still worth a little chunkage over the side. My wife and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

There's a tour that circles the island in a Hummer that hits all the places they film TV and movies like Lost, Hawaii 5-0, etc. Lost was still big at the time, and I was a huge fan when we took this tour. It goes all over the island.

Keep an eye on the surf forecast for the North Shore. If they're breaking, you must go watch Pipeline or Waimea especially. If you just want to experience your own awesome beach scene for yourself, you won't to better that Kailua Beach. I could spend the rest of my life there.

And Hanauma is the only place to snorkel. Place is awesome. And can get crowded.

Have a blast.

Yep, and straight to the north there is an indigent Hawaiian cannibal called the "Hanna Lailukas" that will allow outsiders for a fee (I think for $35) to watch them eat another tribe member.

I liked the little shoe hit called Pupa Lanaka just down Shoohiki Road. Great treads. Still wearing em 5 years later. Worth the money.

I do regret not getting some Hawiian cuisine at Tuliki Cove. Man, heard some great things.

Awesome. I thought that place would've been closed by now. I still have my Tiki shorts that were hand made there.
