Maybe he wanted to take it home and frame it. Called a great game then screws up the easiest part of calling the game. You take it at some point.

Bad play calling played a part. The runner who didn't go out of bounds cost several seconds, but the swing pass with a few seconds left was really bad. They had been running the ball all night with short yardage for the first down, but went for the pass that was stopped inthe flat and kept the clock running. The last play was probably susposed to be a pass, but instead of throwing the ball away, the QB tries to get out of bounds and runs the clock out. With the way their kicker was performing, he probably would have missed the long field goal anyway.

I have nevr been a coach, is managing the clock that hard? At home in my living room, I know exactly how to manage the clock, is it that much harder on the sidelines? Should they hire someone just to manage the clock?

A couple things I want to know are whether they actually measured the spot on the 1st down play. Looked to me like he may have had it. I think the referees should have called a timeout to see if he actually made a first down. Then Appy State could have called a timeout had they not. I think if they give him the first down there, which he may have had, then they run an entirely different play on second down and they may very end up winning the game.
