Remember a few years ago when California Chrome's idiot owner said that if you didn't run in the first 2 legs of the Triple Crown you shouldn't be able to run in the Belmont? This is what you would get some years if he got his way. The race was taken off the turf and moved to the main track so 8 of the 9 horses scratched. The last walkover I can remember was Spectacular Bid in the 1980 Woodward. By the way, if you want to see ostriches and camels run you can at Penn National next week per the race caller. He was a little bored calling a one horse race.

Result chart.."SHE'S LOVELY scared off all competition to win in a walkover. Race was hand timed."

-Can't remember the exact race ('98?) but Sharp Cat won in a walkover. Nakatani was up that day, iirc.

The owner of California Chrome was proven wrong soon after his rant. Nobody cares about his opinion.
