Taking a balloon ride this morning starting at 6:45 from my house on Briar Hill Rd. here in Lexington. I'm a little nervous. Any of you all ever done this before. I'll let you know how it goes.

I thought about getting into hot air ballooning several years ago but decided not to. The problem is you are essentially at the mercy of the wind and where you wind up landing is very random. From my hang gliding days I know that not everyone is especially crazy about you landing some strange looking thing in their pasture or corn field. You're chase team needs to be on the spot quickly also.

If I lived in the southwest - Arizona, New Mexico or West Texas, where you have hundreds of miles of unoccupied essentially desert area I think it's a good sport to get into but in this area I'm just not a fan.

Happy landing :)

I know one guy who is into ballooning and, honestly, is the biggest sex maniac/pervert I've ever met. His stories are legendary and always have TMI.

Sonce this is the entirety of my knowledge of balloonists, I now assume they all do it so they can take others up and do the "put out or get out" routine.

Damn @Willy4UK already said he was afraid of heights so your statement must be false. [banana]

Nope. No desire. Have had two "drop" into the street right in front of us---tiny landing area with trees all around. Watched another hit a pine tree about 25 feet up in the air and the basket was tilted about 90 degrees sideways until it dragged through the limbs and landed on the ground. They may look beautiful floating in the air, but it doesn't seem like they have much control over where they go.
