This game really worries me because if Houston decides to step it up for this game they can give us fits. Yet if we win we get zero credit because of their losses.

This is a reason why I prefer to not schedule teams like Marshall, Houston, ect. Yes, Houston was better than expected last year but it still does nothing for us to play them and gives them every advantage as a non-power 5 program. To top it off, I definitely don't see why we'd ever schedule a home and home with teams like this. It will always be nothing to gain for us and everything to lose. Lose lose situation every single time. I would rather schedule a Cincy or a Memphis since they have both been a longtime rival. I don't like the neutral site opener next year either. Having six home games a year isn't the most fun. Sorry guys. Really bummed about last night

Well the Houston game was part of the AAC Departure agreement...don't ever want to play Marshall again...if we play a C-USA School I rather for us to play WKU...Keep it in State.

I agree. The new series with them is nice. I didn't know that about the Houston game(s). Interesting. I'd just like to have seven home games one season is all. Sounds nit picky I know. But it is an advantage when teams like Michigan have 8 at home. (EIGHT home games, seriously? Sounds like LPT football.) And if we are going to play a neutral site game, make it like the Auburn and Alabama games. Not going to Indy to blast Purdue.

Houston is currently ranked #26

Theyre off this weekend. They play Tulane on the 12th.
If they blow out Tulane and some teams above them lose, they
can get back into the rankings.

Not much a feather in UofL's cap, but a convincing victory at Houston
wouldn't hurt.

Was really hoping for an undefeated, top 10 Houston. Oh well.

Playing Mempiss or Cincy is no better than Houston or Marshall.....all of the G-5 teams will have the advantage psychologically.
It doesn't matter "who" you play; what matters is respecting and preparing for your opponent and going out and beat the sheet out of them!
It's real simple.

I live in Houston and will be attending the game. Houston is an extremely dangerous team and that stadium will be rocking. We better bring our A game or our playoff hopes will die that 11/17/16.

I can agree with that too. But I've always heard its the "sign of a good team" when someone plays you and game plans well and you still beat them despite them playing to their absolute best. I'm realistic. These are college kids. We aren't going to blow teams out that we should every single week. Bad weeks happen. The main thing, to me, is that we win and learn from it and grow. It just seems to me we were the only team that got penalized by the committee for WINNING close games. Doesn't make sense.

Anytime you get the chance to smack around an arrogant Big10+4 fanbase, I am all for it. I don't care what school it is.

That's not why. You have to look at what the committee goes by, not what other people go by. The committee makes a big deal of the records of your opponents, specifically the ones you beat.

This year's game against Marshall was the return game for a two-game series we signed with them all the way back in 2008. The first game was played in Louisville in 2011, and then the return game was re-scheduled at least twice because of our moves between the Big East, AAC and ACC.

Back in 2008 we were in the Big East and needed to sign home and home series with schools like Marshall because we only had a seven game conference schedule. Now that we are in the ACC and have an 8 game conference schedule, plus a game every three years with Notre Dame, we won't need to do home and homes with G5 schools like Marshall or Houston.

It will be still have the cachet of promising a thrilling show.....and probably delivering. Ward versus Lamar is about as good as it gets, anyway. I think lots of eyeballs will be checking it out.

I expect it will be a warm climate evening our players will relish. Big humidity so depth will be a factor. We may play the best we played all year. We both would be on a mini streak if everything works out.

I am truly looking forward to the Houston game.
