Visiting the Uffizi Gallery, among other things.
Ask your wife if she wants a new purse. If she says yes, you now have some shopping to do and will be a husband for life.

There are some incredible leather merchants in your midst.

Fall foliage cruise with wifie up to Corning NY (from Coal Region), then stop at Wellsboro on way home (needed an ice cream from the place next to the Diner). šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
Gorge Trail is a beautiful hike.

out and set up. The tree is up but the ornaments will go on around Thanksgiving. Potter offspring all protested but Mom and I like it up early.

Shabbat Shalom
Did all the lighting on the bushes/shrubs. Have the tree in the front yard to do. Have not done the lighted greenery around the front door wreath or porch railing yet. Wife said not yet lol. I like to get it done before the weather hits 40 deg or below.

I also literally put up an additional Halloween decoration just today, lol

I do not give the tiniest thought about Christmas until the last bites of Thanksgiving turkey and stuffing have been enjoyed, as well as my post-meal nap

It's not too far, I think 7 waterfalls. Trail is a little steep and wet in places. I was a powerlifter trying to keep up with 2 mountain biker buddies. It was work !
Might be a little too old for that level of work

but would be cool šŸ˜Ž to see if I could ā€œstrollā€ there 🤣

I spent the weekend following the wrestling team's exploits in the championships overseas and daydreaming about the upcoming wrestling season. Football season is over as far as I am concerned. I don't intend to watch another college or pro football game.

Took the fam to Vermont for some R&R in Killington. Visited a cidery, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, hiked a bit, had dinner at the Woodstock Inn & Resort, maple creemes in Woodstock (town has been the setting for a few Hallmark Christmas movies), bought some goodies to take back to Va, and counted Subarus in the wild. Awesome.

We used to do New England especially Vermont and New Hampshire then finish fall foliage in the Berkshire's every year. Always did the Von Trapp Lodge in Stowe every year.

Now because of age and the fact that driving at night has become an absolute adventure we haven't gone up for the last three years. We really miss that trip. While here in central PA we get nice fall color in VT and NH the hills and mountains are just ablaze a must-see experience for those who haven't been there.

I met Maria Von Trapp about 5 years before she died, in what was at that time their detached from the lodge gift shop. She was a very friendly lady who loved meeting the visitors and shoppers. My wife and her became good friends corresponding after that and we always met every year until her death.

Neither were as they were portrayed in the Sound of Music, they were very common looking, and she was certainly no Julie Andrews. He (Georg) was a very short man hence him being a WW2 submarine Capt. Sadly, he died the 2nd year after meeting him. He was far more reserved than her. I once asked why they settled in Stowe, and she said because it reminded them so much of their home in Austria.

Meeting those two who were such a part of history was a sheer stroke of luck on our part and only happened because we were in that gift shop at just the right time, then me getting up the courage to speak to her once I recognized who she was. I actually asked the clerk if I should and she said she loved talking to all who visited or stayed at the lodge.

We seriously miss those New England trips that we won't be making anymore.

I think they prefer the term "Free Range Subarus".

Ha! Great story; thanks for sharing! We love Stowe - there is an amazing authentic fondue place there we lucked into last time we were there. New England is wonderful and where we spend most of our vacations. We got a place in Maine so we can go every year. Kids love it; very special. Daughter unfortunately believes Nantucket is her annual birthday tradition so we tend to go there every summer too. Much prefer it to destinations south of Virginia.

We got into Main a number of years ago never got to the coast. I didn't realize they had so many lakes and ponds. Very scenic for that kind of thing. Enjoyed some lobster.

Next summer, I am planning a m/c trip to western Maine (lakes region). Good roads through upstate NY, Vermont, NH and Maine. Plan on staying a couple of days at Sunday River Resort and play their course. Luckily, they rent clubs. I am hoping Belgrade Lakes does the same so I can play there as well.

Took the family down to Wildwood for the weekend. We tried to go in September but my dad's health failed (and he ultimately passed a week later) and then a noreaster crushed the shore on our backup date in Columbus Day weekend. This last weekend worked out perfectly for us.

Side note about my dad passing. We watched every PSU game together on the weekends for the last ten years. I joked at his funeral that I took joy that he passed knowing they were undefeated. However, eversince he passed, my love of PSU football has no been there and they have been winless. I'm hoping to spread a part of his ashes on top of Mt Nittany sometime in November so he'll never miss a home game again..
