How can you create ANY culture of accountability and keep O'Neil? Not possible

All this crap about accountability is utterly meaningless when someone as ill prepared as O'Neil is allowed to keep his job.

This is why the situation has to change. Every player and assistant can see that the DC is the problem with the defense.

The talent isn’t appreciably different from last season.
Oh it's different. It's just not "give up 5-650 yards a game to ordinary teams" different. Sure we lost a lot of guys on D. But this is our worst defense in like 15 years. Duke sucks. Nebraska is mediocre. No excuse. Nebraska could have scored 70 if they wanted to.

I agree that I don’t see great talent in the front seven.

It is not “appreciably” different. The secondary is basically the same as the end of last season once Newsome was hurt and we weren’t flat-*** embarrassed. The front is basically the same, plus we got Miller back. The LBs clearly turned over, but that isn’t enough to explain the abortion we are putting out there right now.

We are in violent agreement.

Why do trolls like you only come out when the team is struggling? Do you not have any other hobbies?
Because his team won a B1G game. Doesn't happen often. And - get this - his team plays 6 more games. Three of their opponents will crush them. But - if they will ALL three if the rest, they might make a BOWL game. So they are understandably excited about that accomplishment.

You guys act like JON calls the exodus play where he holds up his staff and has god part the middle of defense so the back has a clear lane to the end zone

Players being in position to make plays is the literal job of the defensive coordinator. Why are you guys choosing to die on this hill.

The problem is JON.

He obviously has an axe to grind with Fitz. Probably McCall’s son or golf partner.

I really don’t think he’s the problem. It’s a talent issue.
While there is a mature talent issue (talent with maturity) as w we lost a lot after last year, there is still the problem that these guys are out of position and taking bad angles

Now, is that because the players need time to learn a new system, or is that because the new system is bad?

Are there examples of teams running this new system successfully?

That's exactly the problem; there's really no example of JON managing a successful defense as DC to date.

Biggest problem is just if the results look like this for a season, he's never going to get another season to attempt to make his system work. That's what happened in the pros (demoted after bottom 3 NFL seasons), and it will happen here in all likelihood.

Here's one article on it.
