I'm very excited to see how the former Cornhuskers shape up for us. Glad to have them in blue and white this season.

Laster isn't a Nebraska transfer.

Love was considered to be very athletic at Nebraska. Just hadn't learned Pelini's complicated scheme, so didn't play much.

Stoops has praised Love's leadership and said Laster was explosive on the scout team last year. Time will tell.

Love is from Nebraska, Laster is from Minnesota. Stoops is really high on both of them, for the record. I think we picked up a couple of studs, excited to see them on the field.

I think Love will give us a true MLB with thump vs. the run that Forrest didn't have. I think we upgrade at MLB next year over last year.

We'll see about Laster...but we need more maturity at our OLB spots. We really got exposed at OLB spots last year to me

ILB depth.... Love, Laster, Jones, Brown, Firios, Daniel, Walder & Watson.

OLB/Jack depth.... Hatcher, Ware, Bonner, Allen, Walker & Bannerman.

IMHO, all 4 positions have the potential to be better. Only time will tell though.

We won't be getting gashed up the middle nearly as much with Love playing MLB.

With Elam and Love, our run defense stands to be stout up the middle. Excited about that combo...we need Elam to really start working like a pro this off-season.

Couldn't be happier that Love sounds like such a leader...need those guys on both sides of the ball. Stoops has gushed at times about Laster, so excited to see him as well.

Doubt our staff would have taken 3 transfers if they were just expecting them to play on scout team. They were brought in because they can bring the pain.

Love will be an upgrade over Forrest, but not because Forrest was a dog. First of all, Love is a real player, and he fits the mold of an inside LB / run-stuffer in the 3-4 defense. Forrest, even with the weight gain, wasn't physically designed to play inside in the 3-4. Forrest will get his shot in the NFL, but it will be as a weakside LB in a 4-3 scheme where he can use his speed and pass coverage skills against TE's and RB's to it's full potential.

Totally agree....I loved Forrest in coverage and I think a WLB is his calling card...but we didn't have a legit MLB and he did the best he could. But his ability to cover, take good angles in open field, etc..were exceptional football

We've not had a true MLB in a while. I'm excited about Love. Equally excited about Later playing outside.

LB is going to be vastly improved next season with some of our younger talent finally coming into age to get on the field. In addition, Hatcher and Ware will be excellent.

I agree and I suspect that the staff will probably be able to RS Walder, Watson & Bannerman. And they possibly could even RS Jones, if they really wanted to, even though he played this year & looked pretty good.

Be curious to see post spring depth chart. Love, jones, firios, and kash are for sure inside guys. Ware, hatcher, walker, allen and bonner are outside guys. Brown and laster could play either and if one is outside do they rs allen or if he plays onside do they rs jones?
We finally have #s at lber. Curious to see how it shakes out.

With all of the added depth and talent to the linebacker position it should be vastly improved. Losing Josh & Ryan will hurt but how much is yet to be seen. Do any of you think it is possible to put Hatcher and Ware at DE and unleash them on opposing QBs? Speedy DEs can be forces to be reckoned with.

Brock28 I agree with you about our secondary, I am looking forward to watching this group mature,it's been a long time since we had shut down corners on both sides of the field.we have some good safety also.Westry may be an All American!

It sounds like Kenegra Daniel could be a big help @ DE. He is switching to DE from OLB.

Also, Alvonte Bell RS'ed @ DE. He was a pretty decent pass rusher in HS.

Daniel and Allen would both be great at the end positions in a true 4-3 front. Allen needs weight. He was at 220 this past season but probably is at 235 by now.

I've been stating from the fall that both Ware and Hatcher should play with their hands in the dirt, at least on passing downs. Hatcher has the speed to really make a difference if used correctly.

Have both of those been confirmed? I'm excited about Bell; that 247 practice report on him really made it sound like he could be a star here. It was a good move redshirting him since his body looked so undeveloped in the Media Day photos and he got here so late in the summer.

KG's father posts on here, said the staff asked KG to come back at 270 and compete for the starting weakside defensive end spot.
