I thought the Hokies played okay vs a higher ranked opponent. I hope coach Pry's seat isn't too hot and he gets a little more time to build the program and turn it around. He's a good man and respects the Hokie traditions. I think recruiting and building a program at VaTech has become increasingly difficult. Except for the top tier teams, recruiting to the ACC is a challenge.

They have a good defense, which makes sense with Pry. The 4th quarter punt return basically broke their back. They have a defense that will keep them in a lot of games.

I agree, I think if they can clean up a few things they can have a decent season, maybe 8/9 wins. Take away the interception in the endzone and all those dropped passes. Add in some dumb penalties that nullified big plays or added to a South Carolina drive it might have been a different game at the end. I think it was a winnable game for them but they has too many unforced errors.

The key to Pry's seat temperature is he able to get those things cleaned up.

Depends how patient Va Tech is. He would already be fired at Texas or Georgia or Florida or Bama but this is a different world. I think he is running out of time. He could definitely be fired at the end of this season. I think a 6-6 type campaign will get him canned. Maybe 8-4 buys him time but I think that could be the minimum. Not sure where he is in his contract. That is another factor. I don't see Va Tech shelling out a ton to buy him out but I don't think they would have to.
