there is no way they fire a coach after 2 years, one of which they go to a sweet 16. pope isnt a drunk like BCG.
Hopefully Mitch retires soon and the next AD makes a change quickly if next season is like this one.
I don’t think they fire him after this year but I was curious if you meant because of his contract or something of that nature. I don’t think a coach is guaranteed a 4th year at a major program anymore because of NIL. To much money involved now

I know this losing 4 games to Alabama and not even being competitive has to have some of them really concerned. He will still get a minimum of 3 years regardless of what happens.

There are not many squeaky clean coaches out there, I thought Cal was shady too but he kept the program clean but was losing to many games to inferior competition, especially in the NCAA tournament. Also UMASS and Memphis were put on probation after Cal left there. Pearl did get a show cause penalty, it seems like it didn’t bother to many people. Looks like it’s already forgotten. I was in the camp to never hire a known cheater but I don’t question his coaching of his ability to get the most out of his players. It looks like going forward we might have to take a chance on a proven winner despite some past run ins with the NCAA if we want to stay relevant. Kelvin Sampson is another who had a show cause penalty for cheating but seems to be doing well. You would think Pearl and Sampson learned their lesson. If something does happen before Popes contract is up, I would give Pearl a call, never thought I’d say that but I can’t stand the way we look right now.

It's a basketball game dude. It really has 0 impact on our actual lives. If it does, you are a loser IMO. Doesn't mean we can't be passionate it as the mindless entertainment hobby it is but for goodness sake. It's not that serious for us as the fans. That may be true, but there is no way a 4th year will happen if years 2 and 3 are lost years which they both appear to be. Year 2 has been highly unsuccessful thus far and year 3 already looking clean due to zero commitments for next year.

The original premise is the key to UK Success over the next two years. At this point almost all of the NIL money comes from one source. Other programs have multiple large donors like Michigan. If our main donor is not happy or puts most of their NIL into football then Pope may not have 22 million to spend on 13 players. Perhaps that is the issue with High School recruiting or lack of it?
