How many beers does it take to get you a buzz? Drunk?

I drink like 2-3 times a month, and maybe get drunk 2-3 times a year. Takes about 3 beers (4.2 percent) to feel anything, drunk by 9-10, out of it by 12-13. This is at a beer every 10 minutes or so. I’m 5’10, 200 lbs of lightweight drinking lol. Just wondering where others stand, or have any interesting “most I ever drink” stories. Feel like this will be interesting discussion, and be sure to let me know what a ***** I am.

If youre drinking a beer every 10 min and feeling something after 3 then youre not making it to 9 or 10. 12 or 13 is out of the question. Im guessing youd top out at 6 or 7.

You’d guess wrong. I have no reason to lie or to prove otherwise, so believe as you will.

Why are you chugging beers at a rate of 6 per hour? And why would you keep going until you’ve had 12 or more? Holy crap! Try pacing yourself a little better, and practice moderation. Your liver will thank you!

I’m a moron. I only drink a couple times a month though, and it’s typically 4-6 beers

I only drink beer on the course. I can drink probably 8-10 light beers during a round of golf and have a buzz at the end. If I get crazy I can put down 15 or so which makes it tough to drive. If I am drinking in a social setting, it's always neat bourbon.

I don’t know now, but when I was 16 the first time I really drank I pounded 8 Bud Lights in exactly two hours and was completely blasted (puke, but no blackout). Assuming I could do much better now.

3 in an hour will have me buzzed, 4-6 drunk. Don't drink much beer though, only after playing a game or two of softball and then I only have two Bud lights. That is the only time I drink American beer. At home it is mostly rum and coke (an occasional whiskey) or German/Belgian/Japanese beer after yard work or any other outside activity during the warmer months.

Do you mind if I asked what happened?
Nothing dramatic. No DUIs. No lost jobs or realization I'd become an alcoholic. Just a few incidents with girlfriends and later my wife where I realized I was more belligerent than I ever wanted to be when drinking -- not physically abusive, just a mean, ugly person. And lots of money wasted. And a growing dread of hangovers that get harder and harder to shake. I did miraculously miss a couple DUIs after being stopped dead drunk. And somehow I never hurt anybody after driving home many times so smashed I had no memory of it.

In short, I was just lucky I never really hurt anyone or screwed up my own life in return for, what, exactly? Feeling that surge of confidence and false sense of being funnier and more interesting than I was that people get from drinking? I decided it wasn't worth it.

I'm an experienced drinker. I can feel "something" after a single shot or two. Certainly feel good after 4 or 5.. really good by 9 or 10. And then trouble starts after that.

I'm going on a month detox starting today. Gotta lose some LBs, save some money and generally just clean out the holiday waste. Can't remember the last time I went a month without any alcohol.

4-6 head change.

6-8 I’m buzzing

8-11 I’m in the magic zone

12-14 I’m drunk and have peaked.

14+ I’m close to messy drunk and need to be careful of a potential all-day hangover

If I hit 16, I’m screwed the next day.

+/- 2 or 3 depending on pace.

4-6 beers buzzed 7-10 drunk 11-14 sloppy drunk 15 it’s a bad night for everyone involved.

If I’m trying 3 shots fireball, 6 beers, 2 old fashioneds, 1 LIT, and a joint to make sure I’m good and messed up.

Hard to get drunk drinking water.

It all depends on what kind of beer i'm drinking. Craft Beer ABV's vary all over the place which has an effect on how much it takes. But if I'm drinking something in the 5.5 ABV range, it will usually be about beer number 4 before things start to turn for me. I'm 6'-1" and about 235lbs.

I like to enjoy what I drink. If you consider a 1.3 difference in alcohol level water, then I just don’t know
