This team is so bipolar then pope subs like it’s an all star game so who knows what to expect going forward. We SHOULD beat lsu and mizzou but I can’t see us playing within 20 of Fla if we make it to Friday.

Fla is what UK used to be and what UK should be almost every year, say what you want about Golden but I’d love for him to be the next coach here.

I don’t understand why the SEC doesn’t just run a straight sweet 16 tournament. Why do you have the lower tiered teams at such a disadvantage of having to play two days before even getting to the quarterfinals???
I understand all the “this team has deserved to get a bye” stuff, but I've never thought it was really fair to those bottom teams.

Depends on which team shows up… I voted 3, with a win over Florida, because of the Law of Averages and stuff👍🏼

2 which if you start on Friday is awesome. Unfortunately, that doesn’t even get us to the weekend!

I agree about the bipolar part. Most of this season I've said the Cats are like Dr Jekyl or Mr Hyde.
As for the Florida part, I am NOT saying it's ok to lose. Definitely not!
But in Florida's last 11 games (all wins), in order from closest to farthest, the point spreads were: 7, 9, 13, 14, 19, 19, 20, 23, 34, 34, 47
Which 2 were UK? the closest 2 (7 & 9). And I wouldn't even say that we "played well" in either of those 2 games, but I also wouldn't say Florida played bad in either game. We played just "ok".
That said, they and we are both capable of a 30pt loss by the Cats, but we are capable of beating them.

And I agree that I would want Golden as our next coach.

0 to 2. I went with 1 for good measure. Wouldn’t shock me if we lost to LSU or made it to Florida before getting put teeth kicked in again.

Well, they were down by 20+ and had to make an improbable pass/catch/shot to win the first time.
People forget we were down by 18 points at one point. We were getting blown out for most of that game. Against LSU, the last place team in the SEC.

2-1, with a solid effort against Florida that comes up short. That would make us 21-13 heading into the NCAAT.

Surprised we don't have more that expect a loss to Missouri.
I’m worried for every game. I can see them laying an egg in the first game. There’s nothing that can happen the rest of this season that will assuage the bad juju I’ve had for this team since the asskickin they took against Gonzaga. It was then that I knew this team was nothing special. As disappointing a team as I’ve ever seen in my 50 years of fandom. Blame it on chemistry, blame it on NIL, blame it on whatever. I’ve been disappointed with this season after all the hype. I just want it to go away. If this boob is going to remain the coach, he’s going to have reach deep into his guts and somehow recreate some magic. Not sure if it’s players, coaches, circumstances, but this **** has got to change. I’ve never been this down at the beginning of March Madness. I don’t even want to allow myself to watch any games.

  1. Beat LSU
  2. Lose to Missouri in a game where we try to overcome a double-digit halftime difference
  3. Enter the NCAA tournament as a 6 or 7 seed
  4. Beat the 10 or 11 seed
  5. Lose to the 2 or 3 seed team
  6. End the season with a 21-14 record
  7. Minimal coaching staff changes follow with several players transferring
  8. UK gets some decent transfer players, but hype is diminished due to few to no marquee names and the results of the last two seasons
  9. An AD and GM are hired to give the optimists a reason to look forward to the next season
  10. Summer reports of players overperforming increases the hype for the hopeful
  11. Kentucky loses early-season marquee matchups and realists renew their call for a change
  12. UK is inconsistent all season, losing too may P4 games to signal a change, but winning a couple they should have lost
  13. Pope is removed or resigns after the season concludes in early March
  14. The new AD makes a big hire to replace Pope, and the fanbase becomes united again behind the new coach and vision

I know this thread is focused on our March outcomes, but I can't help from taking a guess at the other dominoes too. ;)

Idk. Good thing you get an auto bid to this tournament. Hopefully they don’t start making teams have to earn an appearance. Say the top 8 teams start being the only ones allowed.

we would have missed the SEC tournament fellas😂

Well it took OT for LSU to lose to an A&M team that clobbered us and a miracle to beat them earlier in the season. Nashville hasnt been kind to the cats this year, i say 0 wins. This team is cooked, no bounce back left in em.

I'd say 0-1. No confidence in this group to win 2 in a row.
Bout to go 0-2 season will be over. Hit the portal get about 4-6 decent commits that were all top three options at their previous school making them pretty good additions and possibly putting us as the number one portal haul in the country. But none of them will be studs. We will have 85% of the board saying I told you so! Pope can recruit!

I expect to have the number one portal haul without a single star. Another average season and another year of excuses. Injuries got us three years in a roll-row😉.

The only thing that would surprise me at this point would be making a run in the SEC or NCAA tourney.
