How many of you are old enough to have seen Curley Neal and Meadowlark Lemon play

with the Harlem Globe Trotters? It seems I got to see them twice and although you knew what was coming you still laughed. Fun times and great entertainment as well as seeing some great talent. I know they still are around but you just don't hear that much about them anymore. OFC

I saw them play three times several years ago. It was always a nice time to take a date on. Was the team they used to always beat the Washington Generals? I always felt the Globtrotters would have a difficult time by actually playing within the rules with no traveling or carrying the ball or goaltending, etc.

Saw them a couple times as a kid at the old Charlotte Coliseum on Independence Blvd. Any of you guys remember that old building?

That's where I saw them play. I also saw the MdDonalds All American high school game there in 1979. Ralph Sampson played in that game.
Probably the best senior class of all time: Dominique Wilkins, John Paxon, Isiah Thomas, Sam Bowie, Derrick Whittenburg, Clark Kellogg, James Worthy, and others. I was 14 at the time.

I've never seen the Globetrotters play live but I grew up watching them play on tv and I'll catch a game every once in awhile on ESPN.

Only on TV. I did see Lew Alcindor live when he was at Power Memorial though, whatever that has to do with it.

I ss them in Charleston WV in the 1960's, then read a book about them featuring their owner, Abe Saperstein, who led them in their barnstorming tours around the country.

The weaves and stall tactics evolved because in the early years the basketball courts in some small towns was actually the local swimming pool that was drained then with baskets placed on the ends. During halves where they end of the court was going up hill they would stall. On the halves where the Globetrotters had the down hill slope that would heavily fast break. I am not making this stuff up....
