Ok, time to embarrass ourselves or show we know a lot.

I always thought most years that the SEC would not do well in the tournament. I do not think that this year, although the over physical play may cost them if it is not allowed.

Here goes my prediction which is bound to leave me with egg on my face.

S16 8
EE 5
FF 2

As a conference we usually collectively **** the bed in the tournament. It's really gonna depend on how the games are called. I just wanna get to the 2nd weekend. When we lose I tune out and maybe watch the final four or championship.

12 make the tourney
5 make 32
4 make 16
3 make Elite 8
2 make final 4
1 wins championship.

There is no Pac 12. Acc sucks. The AAC and other mid majors are struggling. Remember how good the Mountain West looked last year.

I should choose more. But until the SEC stops doing sec things, I can't have much faith in the conference.

Look for the Big East to fill vacuum and exceed expectations.

Agree that if games are called tighter will certainly affect how many sec teams move on. If they can hack and mug they'll be fine.

I mean...I hope only one SEC team makes the Sweet 16, etc, and that would be UK.

Outside of playing UL or IU, I hope the SEC gets obliterated in OOC games or during the NCAAs.

All these SEC schools/fanbases loath UK and UKs fans, have no idea why we would want any SEC school to perform well in March.

To answer the question, I think 4 in SS, 3 EE, and 1 FF.

I'll say 6. Should be fairly easy for Auburn, Bama, FL, and TN. TN depends a lot on matchups but probably a 2 seed so unless something unexpected happens.

Could be less if SEC teams meet in round 2 if we get 12/13 in like they are saying it gets harder to space them out.

How the refs call it could also make a difference, look at AR we only have 7 players. That's why I think we play at the most 2 games in the SECT a 3rd game would have some very tired legs trying to play the 2nd 1/2.

You sound just like the people your talking about. I have no clue why you think everybody hates KY first then the team their team plays next. They are some people like that in every fan base but don't group all fans into that group.

I will be pulling for ALL SEC teams to keep advancing, the better they do the more money the SEC makes to share.

right now, I'd go with :

SEC gets 12 teams in (should be 14)

Sweet Sixteen : SEC gets 1 ..... 2 ...... 3 ..... 4 ..... 5 ..... teams there
(Auburn, Kentucky, Alabama, UT, Florida)

Elite Eight : 2 (Kentucky & Florida)

Final Four : 2 (Florida, Kentucky)

That is the point dude. I will not be pulling for any SEC schools, unless they are playing UL or IU.

I hope they all crash and burn.

And I never said anything about everybody hating UK first then the team they play next. Never came close to saying that. Don't make crap up that was never posted.

Also, I couldn't care less about the SEC making more money. Has no impact on my life whatsoever. Does it impact yours?

Or if they are playing Duke, right? Definitely gotta cheer for a Mississippi State versus a Duke, I’d hope

Count me in the camp as well in the I don't care what other SEC teams do in the tournament.

My entire focus on the tournament is only what UK (and St Johns to a lesser extent) do.

If the SEC gets two teams to the final four that's great and all but really has no bearing IMO unless one is us.

Outside of Kentucky, I’m predicting Tennessee to be the last SEC team standing. Rick Barnes gets to a Final Four and calls this his last season.

I will take this part off. first then the team they play next
Sounds like actually what you said. I guess you probably don't know all the schools split the money?

Also no KY is nothing special to most SEC fans just another school. Been a while since KY has even been relevant. You can't live in the past.

My guess is 0 in the championship game, 1 in the FF, 2 in the Elite 8, and 4 in the Sweet 16. I assume some SEC teams will be eliminating each other by the round of 32.

Hello hog fan. The hogs have done a great job getting to the tournament and as long as they don’t play Ky again, best of luck to you guys. Also, I think most would agree with you bud. Just kids playing basketball so why not be for your own league. lol. Going to be a fun March

After reading the Kenpom newsletter about historically good conferences regressing come tournament time, I'd definitely be cautious throwing a bunch of them into the S16.

I could easily see both things happening:
1) An SEC team winning the title (or making a Final Four)
2) The SEC as a whole not performing as well as their seeding suggests.

I'm the opposite.

We've beaten them twice by making them shoot 3's. I think the difficulties from 3 make them prime for an upset.

I’d need to see a bracket and potential matchups first.
This because there could be a few sec teams playing each other second round. The sec is going to have 1 seeds to 11 seeds. 11 seeds are rarely the favorite to make a ss. So just based on those two factors the sec may have less than people would think in the sweet 16. Having 8 teams would be difficult just based on what I mentioned above. I think the real measure will be how many ff teams and how many elite 8 teams.

We always get suckered at this time of year and think that this is the year that the SEC flexes its muscles, and they always come up short.

Without knowing the bracket I’ll say:

Sweet 16- 4
Elite 8- 2
Final 4- 1

Yep. Which is why it never really makes sense when they show on the screen the records of the conferences and whatnot.

IMO you have to judge conferences on whether or not they outperformed or under performed relative to the seeds they were given.

12 make the tourney. Five make the Sweet Sixteen. Three make the Elite Eight. One in the Final Four.

With so many teams and the rules being relaxed, more SEC teams will face each other earlier. The league will cannibalize itself in the second round and Sweet Sixteen.

Also, I figure some teams will get upset. The SEC has literally beaten up on each other the last few months and that might be their undoing when refs have tighter whistles. Plus several SEC teams are dealing with injuries. And sometimes the best league just doesn’t perform as well as expected come March.

The only team out there that is likely to beat either Auburn or Florida is Duke. All three will be seeded #1 so that gets Auburn and Florida to the Final Four. Alabama is really good too. Duke would beat Bama in a regional final but if they are in Houston's regional, I can see Bama winning that game on the strength of their backcourt. So, that's three SEC teams in the Elite Eight and two or three in the Final Four depending on Alabama's bracket. The rest of it is unknown until we know the actual bracket.

It seems like some of the times we have these great conference showouts for the tourney, they sort of seem to underwhelm. I tend to believe that the SEC is the real deal, so I expect 5-6 in the sweet 16, maybe 3-4 in the elite 8 and maybe 2 in the final 4.. but you never know. There's going to be a lot of teams who will throw the SEC a different look. Lot of teams will slow it down.

I think the Kenpom news letter article had an interesting point about conference strength.

99% of these non conference games are playing in Nov/Dec. As such as have no comparison really until the tournament what conferences may have gotten better or worse over the course of the season.

Games will definitely be called tighter. That will be bad for most SEC teams.
Except against us. Then it will be a free for all because they know that’s our kryptonite.

If they actually call it like it should, we will be a tough out.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t end up the 3 in Dukes bracket. Probably Bama as the 2.
