How many states have you visited?

The below article on each state's most famous restaurants got me thinking about how many states I've visited. I'm not counting sitting in an airport, but legit spent a day or two in.

My count is only 24 and I'm 41 years old. I feel like that isn't much. I have a lot of work to do on the coast lines...and most of them have involved work travel quite frankly.

Ironically enough I have visited two of the restaurants on this list...Golden Lamb and Greyhound Tavern. I've always wanted to try St. Elmo's but it hasn't worked out on visits to Indi.

Been to 25 - there are some ****** states that I don’t necessarily see myself visiting honestly. St Elmos was ok when I went there, there was a big *** shrimp cocktail they were famous for but it was shrimp. I mean the shrimp was good but I feel you can get good shrimp lots of places. Steak was fine but overall thought it was ok. The Jeff Ruby’s in Lexington was better IMO.

Been to 4 restaurants on the list. Canlis, in Seattle, was an incredible experience. It was close to 1,000 for 2 of us as well but Ive never had anything like what was going on there, was nuts.

By "visited" I'll assume you mean stayed at least 24 hours?

To the best of my recollection I'd have to say 14. They were KY, OH, IN, IL, TN, VA, WV, NC, FL, WY, CO, TX, AZ, WA. I'm sure I've driven through 8, maybe 10 more.

Regarding Seattle restaurant...was it a tasting menu? The wife and I did a restaurant that was owned by Graham Elliot in Chicago...was in the $800 range and it was ridiculous. Of my top restaurant experiences a couple have been in Chicago...the other was Steak 48. Regina's in NJ was really good too.

Same here. I have only been to Cali. Have never been to Vegas even...a crying shame. Other than that Colorado and Texas are the furthest West I've been.

My BIL was living in Washington and thought we would go visit but COVID happened. Now he is in Arizona. My wife is going to visit him in a week... unfortunately I can't go, someone has to stay with kiddos as school has started.

Elmos was either 2013 or 14. I think it’s just how long it’s been there is it’s main appeal.

Ya it was like a 6 course tasting menu with wine pairings. I’ve done other ones that were great but that whole place was another level.

39, I have a bucket list to visit all 50. My career has given me the opportunity to travel quite a bit. I can knock out a lot by doing a long weekend in the northeast. Oddly I’ve never been to Mississippi so may make a road trip to a UK game some weekend. I’ve flown through New Mexico airport but haven’t stepped outside, so I do t count it. My wife and I talked about doing a Breaking Bad tour in Albuquerque. We are in Texas so it’s easy to get flights.

Not spent a day or two in. But a buddy of mine and me have ridden motorcycles to and from 43 states. He has ridden in all 50, tho he did fly to Hawaii and rented a bike for half a day. I have been to or thru every state west of the Mississippi 4 times.

When my wife and I visited New Mexico last October it was our 50th state and completed that item on our bucket list. It is hard to rate the states as to beauty, as they are all beautiful in their own ways. The west is phenomenal IMO. For us, the Washington-Oregon area and Alaska are our favs. We love our National Park system and have visited about 200 of the 423 national park units. No better way to see our country!!! In 2 weeks we are going to Voyageurs NP in Minnesota near the Canadian border then heading back to the Northwest eventually ending up back at Crater Lake NP in Oregon which the wife and I agree is the most beautiful place we have seen

Least amount of time is DE - like 15 minutes on I95 going from Baltimore to Philly.

After KY & OH, most amount of time is likely IN, then CO (ski trips), TX (~2 months overall), then CA (3-6 weeks).

Now if the UK was a state, it would top them all. Worked there for around 6 months.

Missing everything north of NY/NJ, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, the no population states (Dakotas, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming), and everything out west not named Arizona California, Nevada and Washington (laid over for 6 hours Seattle airport)

Eh unless you left the airport it doesn't count. I've been to the Memphis airport, didn't get to see Memphis. I mean if you fly to Europe and have an hour layover in Iceland, you really gonna come home and talk about your visit to Iceland?
