The reason I link to this non Big Ten team is just that I thought (and maybe I am late to the party and this is old news), I thought the NIL needed to get cookin' was twice or three times as much. This doesn't mean I like or support the NIL system. I am just saying a team like SJ would be paying much more. (Rutgers basketball NIL budget is 3.5 million per a different article in the Post).

This has gotten so ridiculous. The sport is great to watch and I think players should get a piece of the big money, but are any of these players actually going to be part of the student body or have any loyalty the school?
Exactly right. NIL was supposed to be for use of name (in video games), image (video games) and likeness (commercials?). This is just gross. College is an internship. Some limited comp is fine but this is mercenary ****.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out if the NIL Clearinghouse gets implement by July 1st.
What if Miami’s recruits “opt out” of the House settlement and pursue their own anti-trust suit? Will they then not be governed by the “clearinghouse?” What about the schools that opt out of the House settlement? Will they be covered? A lot of loose ends in the NIL world. I’m still not convinced the NCAA can legally restrict an athlete’s ability to make money. I guess we shall see.
When do the regular students with work/study jobs sue the university for paying athletes excessive hourly rates?
Or is it going to be the actors and actresses suing the university for the revenue from their performances?

Incorrect. Pay the players what they’re worth. This is a free market. Their collegiate degrees guarantee little, if anything.
