How to get out of jury duty.

I got out of it by claiming hardship. Wrote a letter explaining that my kid's daycare closed at 5:30 and there was no way I could make it from downtown Louisville to J-town at rush hour in 30 mins if jury duty went to 5 one day. I didn't mention that my wife could just get the kids that day.

They send out enough jury summons that if you claim hardship for any reason, they'll let you out of it and move on to the next person.

I served on a jury for a drug case once. Lasted about a week. It was like watching a live episode of law and order, fascinating. Watched the prosecutor rip up a signed agreement for a guy that was supposed to be states witness but flipped at the last minute. I would do it again in a heartbeat

I got picked to be on Jury Duty in Baltimore, MD. I showed up, went through the whole process...called each day to see if I needed to show up and after a couple of weeks they told me not to bother calling in anymore...I felt that racism made me NOT a "person" of choice.

When your interview comes up just fart and play it off.

I never get called in when I get selected either. I’m kind of disappointed because I think it would be interesting to do once: I feel like I’d be pretty impartial too. Perhaps that’s not what defense attorneys want.

On the first day wear a tee shirt that reads, "I brought the rope, let's hang the n$&%&$!" You'll be escorted right out, and asked not to ever come back.

I got jury duty once. Called and only had to go to the court house twice. One of those times was selected and served on the Jury. Some guy there got selected but was dismissed for saying he thought it was wrong to judge others.

Take it from a guy who has been a juror many times, and the jury foreman a couple. I would suggest doing it. The main reason to see that you are truly not going to be judged by a jury of your PEERS.
Should be extra motivation not to murder someone or rob a bank.

Meh.

A professional jury, that understands police procedures, forensics, etc would be much better.

Cops and judges have never been bribed, threatened or influenced to create a favorable outcome. I’m sure the same would hold true for professional jurors.

In your world a trial would be judged by a government employee, prosecuted by a government employee, and decided by 12 government employees. Yeah... no thanks!

Got the letter before many times, served twice. Both drug Trials.

I saw several guys/gals get out of it during the question phase where they let the prosecutors know that were against any drug laws in any form. Not sure if they actually believed what they were saying but they were dismissed pretty quickly.
