He was the only guy that Dawson has really recruited. It definitely isn't a good thing, BUT there is over a year until signing day and he will get acquainted with UK's new OC/QB coach in good time. Where Dawson ends up might be a factor, but UK should be fine for now.

Dawson liked Mac, but we shouldn't be fooled into thinking that him parting ways with UK's recruiting class would be entirely his choice. Mac is a fantastic QB with a lot of upside, but if our next OC has a guy then expect him to get a look

my point is... read RR30 above... this is a major event in this kids recruitment... hell yes it's a big deal!
He didn't ask if it was a big deal, he asked how it will affect Jones and that answer is unknown as of now although he has stated he is still committed to Kentucky.

Worrying about 2017 recruits is a waste of time and no decision should ever be made for a committed recruit that cannot be on campus for a couple of years.

I agree. I understand why it's important to the coaches, but a commitment for two years down the road means nothing to me. Not a person in this world knows what they will be doing two years from now.

In his interview with Justin Rowland he affirmed his commitment. However his lead recruiter was Dawson. Dawson was going to be his OC and QB coach and he obviously liked Dawson a lot. He said he fell in love with the BBN and I think that's true. He just has to do his due diligence and the new OC will have to recruit him again. It should be an easy sell especially if Eddie Gran is the OC. But if he wants to move on then that's understandable too.

Whether Mac jones sticks with us or not is yet to be seen, I'm sure it will cause him to take a look at things before he signs, but like others have said I'm not too worried about Jones just yet. He's 2 years away from being here. We have Barker, we will have Gunnar Hoak, who has some tremendous upside of his own as well. If Eddie Gran is ultimately the OC, then he may want to go out and evaluate his own QB's and bring in a guy he likes. He may already have some other guys in mind that he is currently recruiting that may get a look. I hope Jones sticks with us, but again, 2017 signing day is a long way off. Lots can happen between now and then.

It is a long time until signing day for Jones, but most everyone on here seems to think he is only going to have his stock rise. He hasn't been just solid with us so far, he has been probably our best recruiter, I think it would take a major event for him to change his mind, like a major rift with the new OC or falling in love with a co-ed somewhere in Florida. Might have to worry about a visit to TU on that front.

From what I have read Hoak is a done deal, Cincy was recruiting him so if Gran is the new OC he should be OK there both ways, and he is supposed to be enrolling early so not much time to replace him and we have to have someone for depth. But we should be recruiting on a higher level than Cincy, we play in the SEC, but then this year we had a lot of questions at QB and they had a five star at QB. Most of our fans also think Hoak is underrated, happens a lot.

doesnt it say it all about Dawson's ability (or lack thereof) in the recruiting side of the business that the only recruit we are worried about is a '17 lightly recruited quarterback?

He's most likely going to leave.. If he does good if he doesn't good. Qb is not our problem.

Maybe but I do think Mac Jones is an up-and-comer that will get tons of attention this next couple of years.

Agreed. Mac Jones's footage shows some definite issues, but he has good accuracy and decision making. There were a couple times when I watched the footage and I thought someone just off-screen was tossing the ball into his receiver's hands. Mac Jones will rise in rankings. There's no mistaking that.
