I agree that it was a great win undermanned but I’m still worried about the defense. UT can’t shoot, they took 45 3’s and something like 75% of them were uncontested. I know that was the game plan but I didn’t think UT shot like Arkansas. I think we see the same against the Hogs, except for Davis and Z, we have to contest.

I think the point you’re missing is they shot all those threes cause they were unable to do their normal drives and score inside consistently due to the defense

Definitely have a lot of grit. Every team always gets up for us, think these guys get an extra gear when they’re playing a highly ranked team. Bygones be bygones but hope they get up for teams comparable to tOSU, Vandy, and Clemson as we’ll face a couple of teams of that caliber in March. Probably Pope’s best win last night, on the road in a hostile environment against your rival and having two starters out (I know Carr had some clock but it wasn’t necessary).

That defense was stout down the stretch ,our offense is are defense. you do realize we put up more points than anybody this year on the #1 defense in the country . GO CATS

While I agree we got work to do, I wonder if missing so many 3s was in part to how hard they had to work in defense last night to cover this offense. Tired legs can affect the shooting %. I can’t believe Barnes didn’t start pounding the ball inside when the 3pt% was that bad.

Yep and Barnes said exactly that. Said the 3’s they took, while open, were by design from UK’s defense and that they took way too many.

Now if they hit a bunch they don’t normally hit, then you live with it. But that was absolutely the correct strategy by Pope.
