I've said it many times this board goes way overboard on the "until cal" sentiment. We've been a great program, and will continue to be a great program without coach cal. I love the guy, and he's up there with the best that have ever held the seat, but some of these statements are pure lunacy

inwish this board would Stop perpetuating this false narrative that until cal came here we were a dumpster Fire. Programs go through droughts and make hires to right the ship all the time. It's nothing new, and when people keep spreading this falsehood over and over it becomes so irritating.

It's almost like some of these "fans" didn't start watching kentucky basketball until 2006 the way they make it sound. Nothing about tubbys last 2 years, or the two years of the drunk felt normal to me. It's not "until cal we never "_________." It's more like "it took cal restoring what tubby and billy squandered.

Nothing at all against giving cal praise or deminishing what he's accomplished, and nothing against the OP. its just the "remember before cal" crowd that fails to "remember before Gillispie" irritates the ish out of me.

Ive met UK fans from Buffalo to Denver and even people in Berry Toronto Ontario Canada who knew alot about U.K and really liked the team. All during Tubbys tenure. None of these people were die hard, but each person approached me because I was wearing a U.K shirt. I also encountered a few haters lol..

I don't think the OP was calling them a "dumpster fire" before Cal.

Not the first time I've seen a poster make a comment regarding UK having a national fanbase because of Cal. I was living in NYC during Pitino's run starting in '95. UK gear was everywhere for a few years until Tubby had us mediocre. So long before Cal there were bandwagoners that "repped" whoever was hot at the time.

There's a few of us in Boulder. The Denver area is saturated with KU fans though.

While I agree Cal has help spread it we can go as far back as Rupp who recruited in the NY area. Certainly Pitino did as well. Cal is great, as I and many other's have said many times, the perfect guy for the job, but he didn't make UK. He's simply carrying on the tradition, and doing of heck of a job at it.
