Let me preface this post by saying I expect all the smart *** comments by those trying (and I emphasize trying) to be funny.

I am scheduled to head to Florida for Disney World on Saturday. We are staying in Titusville. Any Cat fans down there, give me a heads up about what to expect? I realize the storm hasn't hit that far up the coast yet. I am just trying to decide if it is even worth the trip down or should I reschedule. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I live 2 miles from Disney. Right now it has been closed. Gas stations were closed this morning. There is a 100% chance of rain by 3 a.m tomorrow morning and it will be raining all day and prolly all day saturday. The wind should be under 80 mph, if it's over that. We got some problems.

you should be fine, assuming your flight isn't delayed.

We are driving so there are no concerns about flights. I was just curious as to what I will deal with when I get to Titusville. I realize at this point there is no real way to know. Just trying to stay on top of the situation.

Check your hotel reservations, closely. And confirm with someone on-site that will vouch that you will have a place to stay. All those people driving away from the coast have to go somewhere and bitching about losing your room to a natural disaster isn't going to get you much sympathy or a place to sleep. Especially if you are driving down from somewhere dry and safe with full knowledge of what's going on.

Lodging is confirmed as that call has already been made. I am really wanting to know more how quickly things recover down there. I figure Florida has been through this enough to know what to do but at the same time, I would hate to drive 12 hours only to get down there to have to turn around and come back.

A little common sense might come in handy---"up to 1.5 million people" are being evacuated. A lot of those people won't have anywhere to go back to come Saturday. After Katrina, people were displaced all the way up to Nashville in hotels and friends homes. Maybe it skirts the state altogether. Maybe not. But you might want to start checking VRBO rentals on the Northwest Gulf Coast as an alternative.

About 12 years ago a hurricane hit the Destin area 3 weeks before our scheduled vacation. Everything closed and we switched to a Charleston area beach trip. Two days before our trip the Destin Condo called and said they were back open--including the pool. But the beach was still closed. Um, no.

Just read where flights are now being cancelled from Nashville into Miami, Fort Lauderdale AND Orlando.

Reschedule your trip. My guess is that you hotel probably will not have power on Friday, and maybe no water. Could be like that for days, if not weeks. Titusville is going to get slammed.

Come on buddy, don't let a little ol Cat 4 hurricane ruin your trip. What if Clark Griswold would have turned around at the first sign of trouble on a road trip? No Wally World, no family vacation.Sack up and prepare to road trip. Send pics.

Sell that sucker on Craigslist. Quadruple (at least) your investment.

This is the Paddock, where we maximize profit off others' tears.

J/K- If you don't go down you may want to consider donating your room to an evacuee. Or go down and you and your family can help in the recovery efforts.

They are evacuating some Disney hotels right now. Ft Lauderdale and Orlando Sanford has shut down outgoing flights.

It wouldn't be wise to be coming down here. But hey, I'm just one man with an opinion.

The OP should heed Willy's advice. This is going to be bad. A buddy of mine in Jacksonville loaded up his family today and went to Tallahassee. Have some friends in the NSB area who also left this AM. We just got back from there on Saturday. I can't imagine what the damage is going to be like in NSB.

I'm supposed to be flying into Miami tomorrow at 5 pm for a conference this weekend. Just received an email that they are not canceling it. Not sure what the hell to do.

Man, you got lucky. Because it's looking nightmarish here. I can't imagine the east coast right now

The current forecast calls for the hurricane to just miss Miami (will still get a heck of a tropical storm though). If the storm veers just a little, Miami could get crushed. All American Airlines (the largest carrier to the region) flights have into South Florida have been canceled. Doesn't seem worth the risk.

Even tho Orlando is inland a bit the falling trees will knock out power in many places. No fun!

One of my employees is at WDW right now, they got moved out of some sort of cabin into a larger park hotel and told to sit tight, shutting down the park.

Yep. The Mouse is pissed at the lost profits.

Wow, your employee sure picked a dandy time to be down here. That sucks

I was in Orlando right after hurricane Charley hit back in 2004. I managed to get one of the last rental cars available and a hotel that had power. Went to get dinner and damn near everything was closed due to the power being out. Found one restaurant open and waited 3 hrs to eat.

Seems like things got mostly back to normal after a few days.

Chance of a lifetime.

I'd be kind of OK with this post if you didn't imply that the lot of us may not be funny...

www.weather.com you moron. Not trying to be funny. Trying to help your family because their Dad thinks the first stop for life-threatening info is The Paddock..

Gee, why didn't I think about weather.com. Thank God lineskicat was around to set me straight. If you have nothing to add that is of any value, then keep your asinine comments to yourself. Even though it really doesn't deserve a comment, I will respond. I am watching weather.com moron. However, that won't tell me real life how things are. Sure their reporters are in florida, but getting input from actual residents is far more informational to me than a damn satellite image. They are there and they see what is happening and has happened. No website or news channel will give you that. They will find the worst image possible to show on the news. Now please move along Junior.

Again, if you have nothing to add, then I couldn't care less about your input or your attempts to post a funny link which fail. Secondly, never did I say anywhere that I was taking kids. You make assumptions to try to make your diatribe more meaningful than it is. So take your nutsack link, and move along. You are failing miserably and embarrassing yourself.

If my funny link failed, then how'd you know "nutsack" was involved? Or..

Is there something ELSE on your mind?

Because those of us who are computer illiterate know that you can hover the cursor over the link to see what the link is. So take that nonsense to somone else who really could give a damn about you or what you think.

You don't know me. Your opinion of me has no bearing on my life. Seems one of us has a fascination with nutsacks though. More power to you if thats your thing.

People like you made people miss the chance of a lifetime on the Titanic or the Lusitania.
