Hypothetical scenario for UK this year

Here is a hypothetical scenario:

UK finishes 2016 with a 5-7 record, and lets assume that 3 of the wins are against SEC teams.

For whatever reason, the NCAA puts UK in a bowl game as there are not enough teams to fill the bowl spots and UK is the best 5-7 team out there.

On one hand:

UK makes a bowl game
Stoops has 3 SEC wins, more than in any of his previous seasons
With 3 SEC wins could potentially be 4th in the SEC East behind UT, UF, and UGA
UK can win a bowl
UK can end the season with a win

On the other hand:
Guaranteed losing record at 6-7 or 5-8
The "stigma" of being "one of those 5-7 bowl teams"

If the scenario plays out exactly as described above, what do we then make of the 2016 season and Mark Stoops?

He made a bowl when he shouldn't have and next year it's six wins or UK is looking for a new coach.

This team should win more than 6 games in 2017. 6 wins is an extremely low bar for year 5, especially in the SEC East.

At this point in time and with that scenario - it's time to change coaches! If we don't win 6 games. This staff and Mark Stoops have plenty time to make the changes to win six games - based on the balance of this year's schedule. Is it going to be a "gimme" schedule - no! But the teams he should beat this year, will be harder to beat next year - yes I know we should be much better as well. The coaches and team need to start performing in year 4 - not year 5. Year 5 should have been Kentucky's serious run at the Eastern Division run - still could be!

Go Big Blue!

UK has about a 1% chance of going to a bowl. With the new rules in place placing all 6-6 teams first and 5-7 teams being alternates based on APR scores.

Besides gong to a bowl at 5-7 would be a joke. However, 5-7 I think does allow the administration to justify keeping Stoops.

I'm just a band wagon fan but why would UK hire a first time head coach to take us to the next level in football? They wouldn't do it in bb. I'm a huge bb fan and i want to pull for UK fb but they make it hard.
If you own your own business and say you have two men standing in front of you and one is very experienced and knows his craft and has had some success in his or her career and the other is going to have to learn on your dollar and take a lot of time to train I know which one I'm going to pick. It's common sense to me but we know common sense isn't common anymore.

Barnyard was too busy getting bids on the new Archery Arena and sending out feelers for our next "coach in waiting"....
