I've been thinking, what is our weakest possible BIG schedule without a protected rival. Just a quick thought.

Maryland
Michigan State
Indiana
Rutgers
Purdue
Illinois
Iowa
Minnesota
Northwestern
Michigan
Ohio State
Wisconsin
Nebraska
USC
UCLA

You could switch out any of Iowa, MSU with a UCLA or recent Nebraska. Still has the last 3 West champs. Would not be a muderers row, but still as tough as the ACC Coastal.

That would mean we would play OSU, um, and usc the following year. Don’t think they’d let either happen

Interesting hypothetical exercise, but will never happen. The TV networks are going to insist on many games between PSU, OSU, UM and USC because that's where the ratings and prime advertising revenues are. Based on the first schedule release, it looks like each of these programs can count on at least 2 matchups from that list, protected rival or not.
